Created by Valentin Vidauretta the "armadillo necklace is legendary in the index of classic Taxco design and can be found signed by Hector Aguilar as well as Manuel Altamirano. It is the latter who takes credit for the example at hand, in all silver with its graduated, riveted "scale" links seamlessly coming together with a hidden clasp. The necklace is a wearable 15" long with its width varying between 1 3/8" at center front and 3/4" in the back. It weighs 74.5 grams and is signed with the maestro's name as well as "TAXCO MEX" and "925". Dating in the pre-1948 period and in excellent condition with warmly glowing patina, visually impressive and with no issues noted.
