In the same spirit as Spratling's modernist DNA necklace, a vintage example bearing the signature of Carmen Beckmann, one of the few accomplished female designers within the field of vintage Mexican jewelry that we know about. Having worked in the 1960s and 1970s in San Miguel de Allende, Beckmann created pieces in a wide range of styles and some of her designs are truly exceptional. The necklace at hand is generously long at 23 1/4" and hence comfortable for most of us, its chain made of thick wire with perfectly shaped spheres. Its overall width is approx. 5/8" and it weighs a generous 141.4 grams. Signed with her name as shown as well as "STERLING" and "MEXICO", it dates in the pre-1980 period and is in excellent vintage condition, quite impressive, with no flaws nor repairs noted.
