Early Deco Mexican silver repousse bracelet, this piece is based on a Matilde Poulat design, made by one of the maestra's contemporaries who chose to remain anonymous. Highly textured serpent scale links - an allusion to Quetzalcoatl, the divine feathered serpent? - held together with invisible hinges and a gorgeous spotted agate cabochon combine to create a signature Mexico City bracelet. Measuring a wearable 7" long, it is 1 1/2" wide at center front and weighs 49.6 grams. This is one of the early, unsigned Mexico City pieces yet it is tested and guaranteed of at least .900 purity. The bracelet dates in the 1920s-40s and its great patina and very good condition make it a must-have for all of us who love the primordial power of this type of jewelry...
