Vintage Gorham sterling silver triple entree server circa 1930. Three covered bowl sare joined to a tall handle. The server is 10 and one eighth inches H x 14.75 inches W on each side. Each compartment is 7 inches W x 2.25 inches D. Each lid finial is 5 inches H. The pattern, Maintenon, now obsolete, was named after Francoise d'Aubigne, the Marquise de Maintenon (1635-1719). The Marquise was a particular favorite of King Louis XIV. In the Maintenon pattern, Gorham's interpretation of French Baroque style is restrained, elegant, and timeless. Shipping extra. Vintage Gorham sterling silver tea and coffee service circa 1930. The pattern is Maintenon, named after Francoise d'Aubigne, the Marquise de Maintenon (1635-1719). The Marquise was a particular favorite of King Louis XIV. In the Maintenon pattern, Gorham's interpretation of French Baroque style is restrained, elegant, and timeless. This service consists of: coffeepot (9.75" W x 11.5" H); teapot (10.25" W x 9.75" H); cream pitcher (5.25" W x 6.75" H); covered sugar pot (8" W x 7.75" H); waste bowl (5.25" W x 3.75" H); and butler's tray (29" x19"). Note: the tray is sterling, not plate.The total service weighs 246 ounces. Maintenon is an obsolete pattern. The purchaser of this service would be the second owner in 80 years. Shipping extra. English Victorian sterling silver salt service. Four shell form salt dishes on dainty claw feet with four matching spoons, cased in traditional maroon leather box with fitted blue velvet interior. Made by George Unite, Birmingham, England, 1863-4. All pieces are identically marked. Case is 7" square x 1.5" high; each salt dish is 2.25" square x 1.25" high; each spoon is 2.75" long. George Unite and James Hilliard founded the business in 1825 in Birmingham. The partnership was closed before 1845 and the business was continued by George Unite until 1865.In 1854 the firm was active at 65 Caroline Street, Birmingham and in London at Thavies Inn, Holborn through its agents George Groom (1852) and J.T. Fine French silver strainer with gold vermeil bowl and mother of pearl handle, Paris c1820 - 1830. Paris guarantee stamp .950 along with the Paris fineness stamp and C P maker's mark. Measures 7 inches long to the end of the handle, 1 inch high, and 2.25 inches across the bowl. This is French silver making at its best. The mother of pearl handle is hand turned on a lathe, the bowl has its original gold vermeil and the legs are just darling. Austrian 935 silver compote with pierced rose design c1830 to 1850. This piece of Austrian silver was made by hand. The fine pierce cut silver design depicts roses, vines and leaves. The bottom section was made separately and is held by small hand made silver nuts. This spectacular piece was made by a master silversmith. Hallmarked 13 on base. Weighs 383 grams. There are a few old silver solder repairs on the back, to be expected on a period piece with such open delicate design. Overall 13.5 W x 9.25 D x 3.5 H. The engraved name is Celia. Shipping extra.
