They both were turned from a single piece of lignum vitae, a particularly dense and beautifully shaded hardwood. Two objects of this size made from a single piece of lignum vitae are rare. Fabrique Degeneve eight song cylinder music box with nine bells c1870. This beautiful music box play six song and sounds excellent. We just had it cleaned and the original finish waxed. The inlay showing a bird in flight was made from exotic woods, rosewood,boxwood, tulip among others. This music box has its original silver plated key cover stamped S L Marsden 1870. Measures 22 and three quarter inches wide by 12 inches deep and 10 and one half inches high. The case is in mint condition with out any repairs or problems. Shipping extra.
