Japanese cloisonne enamel vase with chrysanthemums. Late Meiji to Taisho era, circa 1890 to 1920. Unsigned, but in the manner of Hayashi Kihyoe. Fine inlaid wirework at neck and base, which are edged in brass. Exquisitely detailed petals and leaves with fine color gradations. Dark cobalt blue ground with white, rust, orange, yellow, and mauve blossoms; foliage in shades of green edged in rust. Excellent condition. 14.5" high x 10" wide at shoulder x 5" wide at base. Original fabric padded wood shipping crate, 17.25" high x 11" square. Japanese Cloisonne vase with birds and flowers 1860. This cloisonne vase is very high quality depicting birds, flowers, branches and leaves. There are gold flakes through out the entire top rim. African Ashanti brass lost wax bronze chief riding in a palanquin. This wonderful "Ashanti brass sculpture" came to us from an important African Art collection. This vintage or antique sculpture measures 4 and one eighth inches long, 2 and one eighths inches wide and 3 inches high. Meiji period Kutani porcelain jar for storing dry tea. The inner lid has a knob and fits inside the jar neck; the outer lid fits over the jar neck. The jar is predominately white and iron red with shades of pink, aqua, and taupe, and is lavishly embellished with gold. The inner lid has a chrysanthemum, plum blossoms, and clouds. The outer lid shows a tea ceremony. There is a band of flying cranes at the shoulder of the jar. All around the body of the jar are 11 medallions of various shapes with richly detailed scenes from Japanese fables. The jar is 14" tall, 11" wide, 5" wide at neck, and 5.5" wide at base. Anglo-Indian Western India hand carved rosewood Davenport desk from Bombay India circa 1860-1870. Birds and snakes are finely carved in an all over design. The desk has a pierced carved gallery over the hand tooled leather topped writing slope, with four interior drawers. The body is raised on two front carved winged bird with snake columns, backed by carved case holding a secret pen drawer on side, which is activated by puling the interior bottom left drawer pull. The pen drawer pops out and hinges over a door holding four drawers, all over ornately carved dog feet. Measures 52.75 inches to top of its back splash, 24 inches deep, 24 inches wide and 33.5 inches to the middle of its writing surface. Excellent condition, original finish.
