English Mahogany and brass lap top desk c1800. We were told by the estate that this antique laptop desk had belonged to Lord Pentland. It is without a doubt the best laptop desk we have had. The box is made from the finest matching mahogany with inset brass braces all around its sides, middle, and top. The desk opens to a tapered, hand tooled leather writing surface. Inside there are compartments for pens, pencils, and an ink well. When we removed the tray, we suspected that the box had a secret compartment. After several hours, we located a tiny slot that, when a pen knife is inserted into it, releases a solid mahogany board concealing three fine small drawers just underneath the inkwell and pencil holder. It is nearly impossible to detect. The box is in excellent condition with original key. Measures 16 inches wide by 10 inches deep and 6 inches high. Opens to 20 inches. Shipping extra.
