Antique Wine Cooler, Antique Davenport Wine Cooler, Antique Caneware. This "Antique Davenport Caneware Relief Molded Wine Cooler circa 1800 to 1810" measures 7 and one quarter inches in diameter at the rim and is 9 and three quarter inches tall. Caneware is a tan color, unglazed stoneware developed around the year 1770. See mark in "English China and its Marks" by Thos. Ornsby pg. 52. RARE 17th century English or Dutch hand forged brass salamander. Used as a spatula when needed, with its round end the salamander was primarily a browning iron holding a dish above the flame for the final touch or heated to red hot in the fire, then held above a roast or a custard to brown the surface. By one estimate, for every 1,000 peels or spatulas, perhaps one salamander survives. Measures 14.75 inches long and 3.5 inches across its flat serving end. Shipping extra. Shaker skimmer kitchen implement brass and iron 1825 1850 from the Hancock Shaker Village, Pittsfield, Massachusetts Measures 25.5 inches long and 7 inches across the brass skimmer. Simply the best skimmer we have had to date. Note the hand hammered rivets that hold the round brass skimmer to the wrought iron handle. Excellent original condition.
