| I W Radia Tilem Njana and Son Shop, Mas, Bali, wood carving. This rare carved wood bust of a woman features an extraordinary pierce carved halo. It is signed by master carver I W Radia. Radia was probably taught by Ida Bagus Tilem, whose name also appears near Radia's signature. Tilem is a nationally recognized carver in Bali. He is the son of, and was taught by, lda Bagus Nyana, another Balinese "national treasure" who received a high national award in recognition of his art in 1974 . For many years he has not sold his beautiful and original carvings, which may be only seen at his home. F Tilem Gallery is one of the finest galleries in Bali, and Mas in particular is home to some of the most talented sculptors.
