"Dia de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead). This is a RARE gorgeous mixed metals axes and glass or quartz crystals skulls necklace by noted Taxco silversmith Antonio Castillo. The “Axes and Skulls” design is fantastic. The necklace is comfortable to wear and measures 17 inches long, each “ax” is 1&5/8 inches tall by 1 ½ inches wide tip to tip. It weighs 112 grams (3&7/8 ounces). Circa 1950-60 the necklace is in excellent vintage condition, wear from normal use. Hallmarks read: LOS CASTILLO TAXCO as shown in photo. One of the best Los Castillo necklaces I have seen! Antonio Castillo was an apprentice at Las Delicias, William Spratling's silver taller, from 1931 to 1939 when he and his brothers left to form their own company: "Los Castillo". He was a contemporary of Hector Aguilar, Antonio Pineda, Fred Davis and Margot de Taxco was his wife. Email or call with questions.
