Japanese 19th century carved and painted Dharma, or DARUMA. The entire piece is beautifully carved. The robe, shoes and bottom of the piece, however, were first covered in GOFUN (paint made from ground oyster shells)and then painted over in colored pigments. The face and chest are just carved wood and the eyes have been painted black. The figure stands 15 3/4" tall, 7" wide and is 5" deep.

Japanese early 20th century bronze trio of puppies. Two puppies are playing together while the third one watches. The trio is signed by the artist on the bottom of the pair of puppies and not on the single puppy. The expressions of all 3 puppies are very similar so it is obvious that both pieces were made by the same artist. The two puppies measure 4 1/2" tall, 5 3/8" wide and 3 3/8" deep. The single puppy measures 3 1/4" tall, 2 1/2" wide and 3 1/4" deep.

Japanese Meiji Period bronze and silver KORO/OKIMONO. The KORO/OKIMONO is done in the shape of a crow and egret. The crow is done in SHAKUDO and the egret is done in silver. Done by UNNO YOSHIMORI, or BISEI II (1864 - 1919). The OKIMONO measures 17" tall, 12 1/2" wide and 8" deep. Signed on silver placque located on the back part of the OKIMONO. YOSHIMORI was UNNO SHOMIN's nephew. He was a professor at the famous Tokyo School of Arts. He won the bronze prize at the Chicago World Fair in 1894.
