Japanese 19th century carved and painted wooden DAINICHI NYORAI statue. DAINICHI NYORAI is the cosmic Buddha, the Japanese version of Vairocana, one of the Five Dhyani Buddhas. This statue was possibly carved by a Buddhist monk from a single piece of wood. The entire statue measures 14 1/2" tall, 8" wide and 6" deep.

Japanese 19th century carved and painted Dharma, or DARUMA. The entire piece is beautifully carved, however the robe, shoes and bottom of the piece were cover in GOFUN (paint made from ground oyster shells)and painted over in colored pigments. The face and chest are just carved wood and the eyes have been painted black. The figure stands 15 3/4" tall, 7" wide and is 5" deep.

Japanese Early 20th Centuy carved KEYAKI wood tiger, entitled "Crouching Tiger". Signed KATSUHIRO on bottom. Made by artist, AZUMA KATSUHIRO. Comes with original signed artist's wooden box. The tiger measures 19" long, 5" tall and 6" wide.

Japanese mid 19th century Buddhist Senjyu Kannon, Goddess of Mercy with 1,000 arms, with case. The sculpture is beautifully carved and painted in wonderful detail. The Goddess and inside are covered in gold leaf and the outside of the case is done in black lacquer. The Goddess measures 15 1/2" tall. The stand measures 8 1/2" long and the outer case measures 34" tall, 13" wide and 9" deep. The bottom part of the case has been restored.
