| The Leiden Museum in the Netherlands was founded in 1818 by professor Otto van Heurn. In 1827 a large part of the important collection of the Belgian collector J.B. de Lescluze was acquired. In Livorno, Italy the collection of Maria Cimba was bought, she was the widow of the personal physician of Henry Salt. This collection consisted of 325 objects among them was the famous relief's of the tomb of Horemheb in Memphis. In 1829 arrived the collection consisting of 5675 objects from the famous collector Giovanni D' Anastasia. In 1910 decided the director of the museum Dr. P.A.A. BOESER to have the best pieces of the collection being published in an important loose leave work printed on acid free, hand crafted, superior quality thick paper This magnificent work was established between 1910 and 1932 by the best artists and craftsman available. And consists of 15 volumes each containing between 12 and 22 plates. This work of art was produced in a very small quantity only 100 sets were made. These were not for sale to the common public but were presented to the Royal family and a number of so called friends of the museum who made with large donations it possible to buy such a important collection and to some museums around the world. We have been so lucky to acquire a number of plates from this standardwork. Each plate is a work of art on its own. They measure 30 x 40 cm and I sell them unframed because everybody has his own taste of framing and also it saves largely in the shipping costs. They will be send in large diameter carton tubes to protect them and avoid any folds or other damage. Beautiful condition some browning of the paper otherwise perfect.
