The plate was made specifically for export to the West during the Qianlong period, circa 1760.

A very ornate Islamic engraved brass box, possibly for tobacco, of rectangular form, the lid with bevelled edges. The scene on the lid depicts a hunting scene with the central horseman retrieving a bird from the ground whilst suspended precariously from his saddle.
