An unusual Japanese lacquer tokkuri, sake flask, 19th century. The flask is decorated with auspicious items in gold and red against a black background. It has a metal pouring spout that swivels when needed.

13 cm x 12.9 cm x 13.2 cm. Overall the condition is good with only a couple of small chips to the rim and a couple of tiny flakes on one face. The lacquer has signs of age and would benefit from a light clean...

A JAPANESE PAINTED & LACQUERED FOLDING FAN, MEIJI.

The fan, complete with original wooden box, is nicely painted on one side with a rural scene with Fuji in the background. The back is very carefully painted with flowers. The original silk ribbon that kept the fan blades spaced is not in place making the fan difficult to display for the photographs. The ribbon is present. The fan sticks are lacquered in gold and silver with birds and chrysanthemums...
