A Japanese Arita lobed dish decorated with a dragon descending from clouds, grasping the pearl of wisdom. The back with a fuku mark. The dish dates from 1750~1790. A similar design to Chinese examples of the Yongzheng period.

Approximately 14.4 cm diameter. Perfect condition.

An Arita blue & white porcelain dish decorated with a pavilion and poetry, an equestrian and servant in the foreground. The dish is moulded with a shallow ‘rinka’ edge. The back is plain and has three spur marks within the foot-rim.

An identical dish is illustrated in the Shibata Collection Vol.4, #303 where it is dated to 1770~1800.

Approximately 17.8 cm diameter. The dish has some light wear from normal use but is otherwise in fine condition...

The centre of of the dish has a depiction of a gated pavilion set in a fabulous garden. Arita 1750 ~ 1770. A bowl with a very similar border design and alternate moulded butterflies and peaches is shown in the Catalogue of the Shibata Collection, item 3321.

A Japanese molded dish with a barbed rim. The centre with a dragon coiled around a tablet of calligraphy. The back has an apocryphal Ming reign mark for Chenghua. 4 spur mars. Circa 1780.

Approximately 22 cm diameter. There is a filled flake to the front edge at roughly 12 o’clock, otherwise fine.

An unusual 18th century Japanese porcelain dish with chidori and waves drawn in thick outline, the centre with a Tibetan Buddhist symbol. The V & A Museum, London, has an identical dish, FE.113-2006. Arita1770-1780.

A Japanese porcelain plate decorated with a dignitary beneath a parasol, attended by his servant, in a garden. The cavetto is unusually decorated with a continuous landscape, a device not often encountered on Arita porcelain. The use of linear shading is reminiscent of Chinese “Master of the Rocks” style. Arita, circa 1680~1700.

The back is entirely plain with four spur marks within the foot-rim.

The censer in the form of a woven basket with a domed open-work lid, suitable for the transportation of avian livestock especially the Gallus domesticus. The base with the mark Seimin chu (cast). Meiji period.

The censer comes with the original box with inscriptions on the lid and front panel, alongside a paper label.

Approximately 6.7 cm by 6.7 cm, 9 cm high. Perfect condition with only a little wear to the patina from use. This is exaggerated by my lighting. The tomobako is ...

An unusual Arita blue & white porcelain plate, circa 1700 - 1750. A smaller dish with similar moulded and gadrooned edge and border of spiky foliage is in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. FE.66-1970. An identical dish, dated from the first half of the 18th century is kept at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

The base with an apocryphal Chinese Ming Chenghua reign mark and 5 spur marks.
