A large and heavy double-sided bronze gong in the form of a vertical drum, perhaps intended for use in a Shinto ceremony.

A CHINESE BAMBOO OPIUM PIPE WITH JADE DAMPER, 19TH CENTURY.
A bamboo opium pipe with a jade damper. The jade makes it quite an unusual opium pipe, mostly the dampers are Yixing stoneware. The white metal fitting looks complete but must have been loose and a former owner has bound it with twine. This could be removed and a modern adhesive used to make a better fixing. The ends are ivory.

A very fine 18th century famille rose bowl, thin bodied almost like 'eggshell'. The yellow diaper border on the interior reminds me of wares from the Yongzheng period, this bowl must be that or very early Qianlong. It is very well painted and looks better in reality than my photographs suggest, you are viewing the pictures oversize.

A JAPANESE EXPORT PORCELAIN CHAMBER POT, CIRCA 1700.
An Arita export European form chamber pot, early 18th century. It has been badly cracked in the past and rivets have been used to strengthen the repair. The use of rivets in this case demonstrates what a high value was placed on these early imported porcelains from the East. Nice for a flower display.

A Chinese paper fan with bamboo sticks, the paper centre is varnished in order to stiffen the paper. The bamboo sticks are decorated with a hot point, a technique known in the West as pyrography. There is a worn out silk tassel with a large amethyst bead.

An attractive bottle with decoration applied using a buff stoneware. The base with a small impressed seal. The bottle probably dates from the first part of the 20th century.

These three Chinese soapstone seal blanks came from a small collection of items that must have arrived in the UK at the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th. Each has what appears to be the same inscription engraved though on two stones the engraving has been filled with gold. None have a seal engraved, one has a stock number scratched.

A CHINESE CLOISONNE ENAMEL JARDINIERE, LATE 19TH CENTURY.
The jardiniere enamelled overall with formal scrolling lotus beneath a ruyi border and above lappets. The inside is thickly counter enamelled with blue. This is quite substantially made and so quite heavy.
