A CHINESE BLANC DE CHINE LIBATION CUP, MID 17TH CENTURY. A white Dehua porcelain cup, the design based upon rhinoceros horn cups of the late Ming and early Kangxi. These cups whilst not uncommon are harder to find in this larger size. The cup has a dragon and clouds above a tiger, a deer beneath a pine tree and a flying stork. A CHINESE PAKTONG BRUSH POT, CIRCA 1900. A very elegant ribbed white brass brush pot, baitong. The walls of the pot are hollow but the piece is quite substantial and feels heavy for its size. The rim has an iron-rich dressing, “Batavian brown”, thought to reduce the incidence if fritting.
