A JAPANESE IMARI 'BIRD & TRELLIS' DISH.

A well-painted Arita Imari dish with a central motif of a conch shell and flywhisk set against a most attractive background of birds and maple leaves on a garden trellis. Within the foot-rim is an apocryphal six-character mark for the Ming dynasty Chinese emperor Jiajing. Late 18th century.

Approximately 17.2 cm diameter. Gilt rim rubbed, otherwise perfect.
