A RARE TOPOGRAPHICAL CHINESE PITH PAINTING, 19TH CENTURY.
The painting is of a Chinese temple and is named on the mount in both English and Chinese, though I cannot read the name, perhaps you will have better luck. My camera distorts the vertical and horizontal elements when used close to the item; I can assure you that it is perfectly rectangular. I assume the inscribed paper mount is original; it is glued to the backing sheet on the outer edge only and is not fixed to the pith paper at all. The pith painting is not glued in any way and is held in place by the paper mount only.
The image size is 10.1/2 inches by 6.3/4 inches. The condition is very fine with only a couple of cracks in the white border, the actual painted area is fine.
