A superb Chinese white jade belt buckle, probably Qianlong. The buckle formed as a dragon with a pearl of wisdom within writhing clouds of smoke on his back, his tail formed as a phoenix looking back at the pearl. The phoenix wings are engraved below the pearl so the buckle is in reality a composite animal, a mixture of dragon and phoenix. Wonderfully and intricately carved from faultless white jade of a pale icy green hue. It has been very difficult to photograph and my poor efforts do not do the buckle justice.
4.7/8 inches (12.4cm) long. The buckle is in fine condition. There is a tiny chip to one strand of smoke, this can be felt more than be seen. Tiny fleabite to a tip of the phoenix plume, the smallest of the plumes that turn upwards. Only seen with a glass. I am based in the United Kingdom so charges made to credit cards are in GBP ( British Pounds ) and your credit card issuer automatically converts the charge to the currency of your country.
