A FINE JAPANESE SATSUMA VASE, LATE 19THC.
The hexagonal baluster vase finely decorated with alternate panels depicting a landscape, a Bijin and a Samurai or Warrior. Separating them are sides decorated with rich gilding on a cobalt blue ground. The base has an extensive mark that I have partially translated as Great Japan Satsuma Kinkaizan. I find this style of Satsuma very difficult to photograph, please forgive the poor pictures. A couple of picture have been taken in a raking light to show the thick gilding. 8.1/4 inches (21 cm) high. No chips, cracks or restoration. The gilding is very strong overall but has worn slightly on the shoulder and more so on the neck where obviously the neck has been used to lift the vase. I am based in the United Kingdom so charges made to credit cards are in GBP ( British Pounds ) and your credit card issuer automatically converts the charge to the currency of your country. Payment may also be made by direct bank transfer in GBP. International Money Orders or Cashiers’ Checks in GBP are also accepted. |
