15 inch high Carved Yixing Vase, Signed & Dated 1959.
A LARGE CHINESE BURNISHED & CARVED YIXING VASE, SIGNED & DATED.

A splendid large vase made from zisha clay, burnished before firing when the clay is leather hard and then carved with a scholar riding on his donkey whilst attended by his servant. Around the back are carved various archaistic censers with ancient calligraphy. In another place the vase is dated ji hai year, 2nd month of spring. Ji hai is a cyclical date corresponding to 1899 or 1959, I am assuming the vase is 1959. The artist’s signature follows but I am unable to read it.

15 inches (38.1cm) high. The vase is in exceptional condition with no cracks, chips or restoration. The surface has some light wear from handling and the carvings show traces of colour here and there.

I am based in the United Kingdom so charges made to credit cards are in GBP ( British Pounds ) and your credit card issuer automatically converts the charge to the currency of your country. Payment may also be made by direct bank transfer in GBP. I am sorry but I cannot accept a cash transfer payment by Western Union as I don’t have an office nearby.
