Eugene Deutch (1904-1959) was a European immigrant who became one of America's most important ceramists ... bringing to American ceramics an understanding of European Modernism. He taught at the Chicago Art Institute for many years. This beautiful, triangular bowl is 8" across at its widest point and 2 3/4 high. Signed E. Deutch on bottom. Excellent condition.

Based on Mae West's dressmaker's mannequin, this iconic glass perfume flacon for "Shocking" was designed by Leonor Fini, who worked for Elsa Schiaparelli. In an iridescent blue glass, this vase shimmers in shades of purple, green and gold depending on the light. One, lone blue and white flower is slightly raised to the touch with a center of yellow. Vertical streaks in reed-like shapes appear intermittently around the entire circumference. This blown vase is a lovely example of the artist's earlier work. Pontil marks are present and polished. This superbly simple vase is an excellent example of the pattern, which was produced from 1924-1928 under the art direction of Frank Ferrel. Distinguished by its six-panel shape, the 5" pot features a chocolate brown matt glaze with a single orange "bleeding heart" decoration on alternate sides. The interior also displays the orange matt glaze, a lovely contrasting color. Overall, this Rosecraft Hexagon vase is in very fine condition and is a pretty piece of art pottery...
