In an iridescent blue glass, this vase shimmers in shades of purple, green and gold depending on the light. One, lone blue and white flower is slightly raised to the touch with a center of yellow. Vertical streaks in reed-like shapes appear intermittently around the entire circumference. This blown vase is a lovely example of the artist's earlier work. Pontil marks are present and polished. Used for display only, the vessel is in very good condition with ware to the bottom. The oversized &qu ...click for details

Dating to the 1960s, this set is remarkable in its design and lush use of glaze. With hints of cobalt, rich color combinations appear in ambers and earthy greens in a shiny elegance that seems to change with the light. The cup measures 2 1/4"H x 3"W; the saucer is 5 3/4" W. A great example of southern art pottery. Each piece bears the impressed Shearwater quarter-size stamp. Excellent condition.

Spotting the work of American/Hungarian potter Eugene Deutch (1904-1959) is exhilarating for the lover of post-WW II studio ceramics. This shapely creamer, produced in 1951, is a particularly awesome example of his interpretation of form and glaze. The elegant body with pinched spout is a delicate, thin-walled sculpture that appears to have functioned only as artwork -- pleasing to the eye and displayed with care. Its exterior glaze subtly shines in a mottled taupe color, graduating to an interi ...click for details

This superbly simple vase is an excellent example of the pattern, which was produced from 1924-1928 under the art direction of Frank Ferrel. Distinguished by its six-panel shape, the 5" pot features a chocolate brown matt glaze with a single orange "bleeding heart" decoration on alternate sides. The interior also displays the orange matt glaze, a lovely contrasting color. Overall, this Rosecraft Hexagon vase is in very fine condition and is a pretty piece of art pottery.
