Intact decorated Messapian jar, 4th C. BC

A sizable Messapian pottery jar with two vertical strap handles. South Italy, 4th Century BC. Wheel-turned and with red-brown color painted decoration. Height: 14.3 cm. Diameter across rim: 14.8 cm. Width from handle to handle: 21.7 cm. Excellent intact condition. No cracks, no restorations. Only one small chip to the base edge. Some calcareous incrustation on one side. Purchased on the German art market.
