Charming Vintage Mexican Silver Repousse Brooch

Charming vintage Mexican silver repousse pin. Wonderful, classic motif of campesino and cactus done. This piece is done with a level of excellence and attention to detail not typically seen in this particular motif. Larger in scale with minute detailing to the garments of the gentleman -- down to hat brim, garment decoration and draping, and sandy base. Adding to the charm and whimsy of this wonderful ca. 1930s piece is the rather wonderful, mature cactus at the gentleman's side. The cactus is created out of green onyx and red enamel to capture the delicious nopal fruit. In fine vintage condition with rich patina and light surface wear. Well functioning bar pin close. Hallmark of Mexico and Silver. Measures just under 3" by 2". A wonderful example of the charm, creativity and fine smithing found in vintage Mexican silver.
