| Dramatic, one of a kind vintage Mexican silver repousse collar with eight malachite embellishments. "Two tiered" construction features an upper wrap of implied silver feathering. The lower tier (connected by a link-pin construction feature) is a design of intricate silver adornment. The entire piece is created in repousse. Marked on the reverso with Taxco and 980 (silver content). I expect that the piece was created as an artisan's submission to an early on Taxco Silver Competition. (The competition pieces were not and are still not permitted to bear identifying hallmarks.) Closes around the back with a simple chain. Inner circle of upper tier measures 8" by 1 1 /4" wide. Lower tier measures 4 1/2" by 1 1/2". (Total drop at center is 2 3/4".) In fine vintage condition: though I believe it could use a good cleaning. As this can be such a personal question, so I will leave it in its present condition. A fabulous, dramatic piece. | |||||||||||
