Of well cast bronze, with nice detail and lovely dark patina, these bookends depict a Native American Chieftain in full headress. They are seriously heavy, weighing 10 pounds (sure to hold up heavy tomes), and are 6" high x 4 1/2" wide. The detail is very fine, with each feather in the bonnet well defined. Unsigned, they are clearly made by a good company, and likely date to the late 19th century...

This elaborately designed hammer was originally patented on September 17, 1901 by C.T. Hennig, and described in detail, with attached drawings. In 1928, the same design was patented by Mitteldorfer Straus. The hammer measures 7 1/2" x 4 1/2" and appears to be brass or bronze with a heavy plated surface. In good condition, there is some plating loss on both ends of the hammer head, visible in photos...

Of an unusual form, this brass match holder is comprised of an acrobat or juggler, lying on his back, while balancing a ball on his foot, which is both a match holder and striker. In each hand he holds a ball. The ball and base are a slightly different color, more reddish in tone, and the clothing on the figure is textured with stippling, and changes the color slightly. Unmarked, it dates to the late 19th or very early 20th century. It measures 5" in diameter and is 4" high...
