Of Sterling Silver, this pair of vases measure just a tad over 6" and have glass inserts of pale green glass (note that one vase looks much darker in one of the photos, due to lighting. They are hand blown and one is slightly thicker, with a darker tint at the bottom, but the difference is very slight). They are hallmarked with the town and date mark of Chester, 1907, and the makers mark, slightly rubbed, is that of Cornelius Saunders & Frances Shepherd, well known for their fine silverwork...

Measuring 8 1/4" at the widest point, and weighing 16 troy ounces, this salver bears the hallmark of London 1902, with a makers mark. On three curved and scrolled feet, the salver is in the Chippendale style, with heavy and wide border around the edge. It is engraved in the center with the Birch family crest, which depicts a fleur de lis with a snake entwined and facing to the left. Of heavy gauge silver, it is in fine condition, with minor scrapes to the surface from general usage...

Measuring 3 3/4" long and 1 7/8" high, this figure of a bull with two figures, clowns or jesters, is solid cast silver, and is nicely formed with fine details. There are hallmarks on the legs of all three figures, and they are very small and hard to read, but there appears to be an "M" clearly visible in two of the marks. Good weight, over four troy ounces. Nicely detailed, even the fingers are well done, as are the feet, hooves, and other textural elements...

Constructed with fairly heavy silver wire, this coin purse measures 3 1/4" wide (including handles), by 2 1/4" high, and is 3/4" deep. The chain is handmade, with drop attachments, and two sections are stamped with a cartouche "NM 1", likely a makers mark. The lid is held tight by a circular mount on the inside. The bottom has a row of loops with drops, many of which are missing, and the end of that row is bent, but all the loops are there...

Of heavy weight, and typical of the very fine silver plate works by Elkington & Co. of the 19th century, this oval serving dish is beautifully designed and executed. Measuring 14 1/4" x 9 3/4" x 1 3/4", it is marked on the deep foot, with makers marks and number, and the date mark is 1888. Finely detailed and painted, this bronze sparrow measures 5 1/4" long and is stamped "Austria" on the body. The paint is in excellent condition, with good color remaining, and the bird is remarkably life like in form and stance. One toe on the right foot is bent slightly upward, though it stands firmly, and the tip of the beak is missing some paint. A very nice example of this genre of Austrian bronzes, this bird looks like he would fly off at any moment.

Measuring 8" high, and mounted on silver bases, this pair of cobalt blue trumpet vases are nicely enameled with white decoration, with gilded rims and crosshatching bands between the enameled areas. The bases are stamped "835", with another very small mark that is difficult to read. In excellent condition, with no chips or wear to decoration, they are a striking pair of vases, fine examples of refined Bohemian glass.

This pair of cast repousse copper plaques depict Bacchanalian celebrations, with drunken children and young satyrs carrying grapes, drinking, playing, and cavorting in a pastoral setting. The panels are well cast, with good detail, and have a raised edge. Unsigned, they are likely Grand Tour souvenirs. Each plaque measures 4 1/4" x 6" and has an attached loop for hanging. One has an attached piece of tape, which appears to be information about who they were given to...

Measuring 2 7/8" x 2 1/4", in a decorated brass setting, this well carved cameo is carved in iridescent mother of pearl, with the darker rose colored sections in high relief and the background of white shell. The carving is set into a velvet mount in a brass frame measuring 4 1/2" square. It stands freely, and the back is stamped "Pat Sept 14 97". Likely a souvenir of the Grand Tour in Italy, where cameos were commonly carved for sale, and usually set into mounts as jewelry...

Measuring 12" high and 3 7/8" in diameter at the base, this hammered copper vase has two iron bands with copper rivets at the lip on top, and around the base. Turned upside down, it functions as a candlestick, and has been used as such. Unsigned, it is constructed with heavy gauge copper, and shows good workmanship throughout. It has a nice rich patina, with some spotting and slight variation in color, and there is wax residue on the inside of the candle cup.

This bronze depicts King Louis XIV in his royal robes and other regalia, standing next to a table containing a small coffer, to which he points, with a key in his hand. The backing over the table contains other French and royal insignia, including a shield and crown. The sculpture is cast in three sections, with some welding evident on the back. It measures 16" high x 17" wide, and is 6 1/2" deep. The casting is fine and well detailed, and there are no losses or cracks to the bronze...

It measures 5 1/2" x 2 5/8", with a painted scene measuring 3 5/8" x 2 5/8". The scene depicts an amorous couple in a landscape, with two sleeping dogs and hunting paraphernalia at their feet. On a 30" hand made silver chain, this pectoral cross is Byzantine in style, and exhibits considerable wear, as do the Greek coins attached. The coins bear the head of King Otto, and are likely those minted in his honor in 1833. The cross may be earlier, and also is similar to Russian crosses of the 17th and 18th centuries. One of the coins is a 1/2 drachma, the other two 1/4 drachmas. There is tarnish on the chain, the cross, and coins, but the patina of the old silver is evident.

Measuring 13 1/2" in diameter, and 2 1/8" high, this Delft charger dates to the mid eighteenth century and is decorated in floral, foliate, and pomegranate motifs, all in a very deep blue. The back has the remnants of a wax stamp, E. Owens Antiques, a well known antiques dealer in Liverpool England who specialized in fine antique ceramics. The edge has some slight roughage, with a loss approximately 3/8" wide, clearly visible in the photos, with no breaks or hairlines.

Dating to the nineteenth century, this icon is copper, and depicts a crucifix with saints, angels, cyrillic lettering and other Christian symbols. It measures 9" x 5 3/4" and has a dark patina, with the lighter copper showing through on the front on high sections of the casting. The back is very dark, and has an applied tag "sitka alaska 1972", perhaps a date of acquisition. Nice detail and deep rich patina make this a particularly nice example of metal Russian icons.
