Measuring 10 1/2" in diameter and 4" high, this canted and footed bowl was made by the Benedict Manufacturing Company, and this line of Karnak Brass was created in 1911 to celebrate classic Egyptian design. Most items in this line were brass, but some were silver plated, as is this one. The rim is decorated with leaf and bead design, and on two sides, a large brass scarab in relief is surrounded by winged elements and other incised designs...

On a 30" hand made silver chain, this pectoral cross is Byzantine in style, and exhibits considerable wear, as do the Greek coins attached. The coins bear the head of King Otto, and are likely those minted in his honor in 1833. The cross may be earlier, and also is similar to Russian crosses of the 17th and 18th centuries. One of the coins is a 1/2 drachma, the other two 1/4 drachmas. There is tarnish on the chain, the cross, and coins, but the patina of the old silver is evident.

Of well cast bronze, with nice detail and lovely dark patina, these bookends depict a Native American Chieftain in full headress. They are seriously heavy, weighing 10 pounds (sure to hold up heavy tomes), and are 6" high x 4 1/2" wide. The detail is very fine, with each feather in the bonnet well defined. Unsigned, they are clearly made by a good company, and likely date to the late 19th century...

Of exceptionally large size, this tin glazed tankard is German, likely Nuremberg from the mark on the base, and is mounted in pewter, also marked on the interior of the lid. Measuring 11" high, it is very well painted with foliate designs surrounding a medallion or crest depicting a scene of buildings. Over a slip of grayish white, the decoration is done in varying shades of blue, green, yellow, and orange, with magenta or black outlines...

Measuring 13 1/2" in diameter, and 2 1/8" high, this Delft charger dates to the mid eighteenth century and is decorated in floral, foliate, and pomegranate motifs, all in a very deep blue. The back has the remnants of a wax stamp, E. Owens Antiques, a well known antiques dealer in Liverpool England who specialized in fine antique ceramics. The edge has some slight roughage, with a loss approximately 3/8" wide, clearly visible in the photos, with no breaks or hairlines.

Measuring 2 7/8" across the lid (3 1/4" including the hinge and pearl knob), this porcelain box is finely hand painted with rose and leaf links forming a chain around the side and on the lid. The porcelain is unmarked, and the silver is signed "Saint Yves Paris" on the silver rim of the box, and the silver rim on the lid has two small touch marks. The silver is stamped with a ribbon design on both rims and on the top, and there are a dozen pearls set into the silver...

This elaborately designed hammer was originally patented on September 17, 1901 by C.T. Hennig, and described in detail, with attached drawings. In 1928, the same design was patented by Mitteldorfer Straus. The hammer measures 7 1/2" x 4 1/2" and appears to be brass or bronze with a heavy plated surface. In good condition, there is some plating loss on both ends of the hammer head, visible in photos...

Dating to the nineteenth century, this icon is copper, and depicts a crucifix with saints, angels, cyrillic lettering and other Christian symbols. It measures 9" x 5 3/4" and has a dark patina, with the lighter copper showing through on the front on high sections of the casting. The back is very dark, and has an applied tag "sitka alaska 1972", perhaps a date of acquisition. Nice detail and deep rich patina make this a particularly nice example of metal Russian icons.

A nice group of stone lemons fit into a 19th century EAPG compote in the thumbprint pattern. The open compote measures 7 1/2" high and is the same width, dating to the 1870's, with high flint content, and comprised of three sections, base joined with glass wafer to bowl. Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, some slight wear to foot, bubbles visible in base. The stone fruit are later, with good bright color...

In classic London style form, this teapot features transferware designs popularized by Adam Buck, ca 1800. A woman seated upon a lounge seems to be instructing a child, who holds a book on one hand. Designs by Adam Buck were inspired by his miniature portraits in neo classical form, and the Regency Period was the height of his designs in ceramic ware...
