Measuring 12 1/2", and finely cast in bronze, this figure represents a Faun or Satyr, one of the followers of Pan, and the original was discovered in the ruins of Pompeii in 1830. With good detail, and true to the original statue, this one has a dark patina, with verdigris visible around the head primarily, and some wear to the patina on the body. Of nineteenth century original, and most likely a Grand Tour souvenir.

Depicting a seated frog, or toad, with his arms crossed, this figure is simply wonderful. He measures 4 5/8" high, and is painted green, with wear and darkening to the paint. His eyes and nose are decorated with brass sections, held by small nails. The base shows straight saw marks, and is also quite dark from age. From every angle and direction he is very appealing, and has a most expressive face...

In watercolor and ink on heavy artist paperboard, this illustration is a wonderful and humorous version of the quandry faced by anyone reading the label on pillows and mattresses: "Do not remove under penalty of law". While the thuggish looking guy deigns to pull the label off, the two kids in the background look on in horror. With no signature, it is difficult to determine the artist who created it, but it is in the style of numerous cartoonists/illustrators from the mid 20th century, includ...

This is a particularly large oil on stretched canvas, in what appears to be the original wood frame with white liner; the canvas measures 20" by 30" ...
