In crisp, clean condition, apparently unused, this set of dessert or bread and butter plates each contain an image of a hot air balloon, with names and dates of flights, late 18th and early 19th centuries. Each measures 6 1/4" in diameter and is stamped on the back with the Longchamps name and logo. The plates are slightly cream in color, with the crazing typical of these wares visible on each plate. This design has long been discontinued, and originally was produced in France in the 1930's.

In very good condition, this matching pair of Quimper plates measure 8 1/2" and are signed on the back HB Quimper Frnce, with a + and a dot, which appears to be a mark done prior to 1940. There is very slight glaze wear to the rims of the plate and one plate has a pock mark that appears to have been made during firing (visible in photos). With nice bright colors on a creamy white slip, this pair is a good example of the charm and artfulness of this renowned French maker.
