The first official uniforms for the Post Office were designated in 1868, and five buttons of this type were on the jacket. The design changed in 1893 to a walking mail carrier, holding a letter in his outstretched hand. This group contains 11 buttons with the early horse and rider, and one button with the walking mailman...

Of most unusual form, this bright green rope beaded necklace measures 39" and is comprised of a seed beaded rope with 14 interlocking beaded loops (each measuring 1 1/2" to 1 3/4"). It is likely of European origin, and may be of Secessionist design, but is clearly of the period before 1940. In excellent condition, it is a very striking necklace with great color and form, and looks beautiful when worn.

Measuring 18 1/4", including clasp, this necklace is comprised of faceted cherry amber beads separated by smaller faceted jet spacers. The amber beads vary slightly in size, as they are hand cut, and appear to be approximately 8-10 mm in size. The clasp is unmarked. The color of the amber is nicely contrasted with the darker jet beads. Note that the photos taken with flash show a lighter, brighter color, as they would appear in strong light.
