In watercolor and ink on heavy artist paperboard, this illustration is a wonderful and humorous version of the quandry faced by anyone reading the label on pillows and mattresses: "Do not remove under penalty of law". While the thuggish looking guy deigns to pull the label off, the two kids in the background look on in horror. With no signature, it is difficult to determine the artist who created it, but it is in the style of numerous cartoonists/illustrators from the mid 20th century, includ...

The longest piece measures 1 3/8" and many pieces are 1" or more, most being fairly thick. There is no clasp, as it is long enough to slip over the head. The stringing thread appears to be red silk, and the age is unknown. This is a striking necklace, with beautiful rich color and wonderful size.
