|Oil on artist board, this portrait of a young woman measures 14" by 11" (17 5/8" x 14 3/8" framed) and is unsigned. The artist board is American, though no other information is provided. The frame is likely original, of wood and gesso, with a painted gold finish, and appears intact. There are several layers of cardboard backing behind the original artist board. The entire surface of the painting is covered in very heavy varnish, some of which has run and collected more thickly, and crazing is also evident over the surface. Restoration could remedy the heavy surface and probably brighten the image. The lower right corner shows paint loss, and there are two small flecks of paint loss on her wrist. The detail is clear, even under the heavy varnish, and face and hands are very well painted. Though unsigned, it is well executed and nicely portrays the beauty of this young woman|
