| This is one of the finer engravings from the 1826 book by William Ellis, "Narrative of a Tour through Hawaii, or Owhyhee:..." published in London by Fisher-Jackson, and engraved by J. Archer, and is titled "The Depository of the Kings of Hawaii, adjoining the Place of Refuge at Honaunau". Multiple carved figures surround the structure at the edge of the sea, and a native boat can be seen just offshore. Very fine detail and crisp image, good condition, with minor losses to edge of print, and a classic scene from early contact in Hawaii. | ||
