|This dramatic block print is by the Mexican artist Alberto Beltran (1923-2002), who was a member of the Taller de Grafica and is known for his images of Mexican life and socio/political struggles of the mid 20th century. A large and relatively rare image by Beltran, this depicts Manuela Sanchez, "Mujeres con la Revolucion", and measures 12 1/4" by 16 1/2". The print has been laid down on board, and has a few minor scrapes that can be seen in the photos, and there is some very light spotting in the bottom margin. Along with Diego Rivera, Siquieros, and other significant 20th Century Mexican artists, Beltran combined modernist artistic styles with social awareness, and often painted the conflicts of the era. A strong and compelling image, this print exemplifies the powerful imagery of the "Mexican Masters". PLEASE NOTE: there is some reflection on the print, washing the right edges out a bit, and the print is on beige paper, with BLACK ink (it appears dark brown in some of the photos).|
