| A nice example of Spanish Colonial silver work, this cup has a hexagonal base, with beaded and twisted wire trim at base and lip, with each panel exhibiting fine engraving, and a foliate cast handle. From South America, the region once known as "Alto Peru", which includes most of the Andean countries. It measures 3 1/4" high, is 2 7/8" in diameter at the lip, and to the handle the width is 5 1/4". Good heavy weight, it has wear typical for its age, with some dents visible on the sides. It has not been polished, so has a soft lustrous patina only seen on old silver. | ||
