|Created in 1962 by Austin Cox for Alcoa Aluminum Company, this chess set is made of extruded aluminum, one side in contrasting anodized black on the sides of each piece. The board is of blue felt, with blue backboard and aluminum sides. The chess pieces fit into a walnut box, with blue lucite sliding cover, which is fitted to mount on a wall. The fitted walnut case measures 30 3/4" by 6" and the board is 19 1/8" square, and each chess piece is marked on the bottom. In excellent condition, with some minor scrapes to walnut case and sliding lid, this set is the ultimate in fine 20th century design, and is hard to find complete and in such good condition.|
