With lovely detail, and movable wings, this spice container measures 8 3/4" long and is 3 3/4" high. The head detaches to show a shaker stopper and the wings are hinged to open. The feathered body is embossed all over, and at the ends of the wings, the tail, and the head feathers, there are raised tendrils, giving more depth and detail to the figure. The eyes are inset blue stones, and the figure is marked on the neck, underneath the overlap of the head, with what appears to be 800 (or 830) and another mark which is indistinct. In excellent condition, it has some spots of tarnish, but no dents or other damage. Likely German in origin, but definitely Continental.
