This dramatic and striking pendant was designed by Louis Giusti, an Italian artist who also designed jewelry, and created some timeless and memorable pieces of jewelry. His most sought after pieces are large articulated necklaces, from the 1960's and 1970's. Among these articulated designs are owls, fish, and this turtle, which is rare and hard to find. The pendant measures 6 3/4" x 4 3/8" and the chain is 18". Of pewter, the front is distressed and hammered, giving it a beautiful silver luster, and the back is a darker matte finish. Many of the links have incised lines on the sides, giving the chain a textured appearance. It is signed with his initials LG in an artist's palette, visible in one of the photos. In excellent condition, there are a few chain links that are slightly bent, visible upon close inspection. This necklace is a timeless and iconic piece of jewelry, and never fails to garner attention when worn.
