This lovely snake would be happy to wrap around your finger 2-1/2 times, and has nice scales carved into the front half. It’s approximately size 8-1/2, and has been resized once, so it could be resized again. It is marked “K18” but with no maker’s mark. Queen Victoria was given a snake ring by Prince Albert as an engagement ring, and that started the Victorian era’s fad for snakes. The snake in a circle symbolizes eternal love. Snakes have also symbolized wisdom. And, on the darker side, they h ...click for details

Here is a splendid moth or butterfly made from rose gold and gems. There are 24 rose cut diamonds set in silver topped gold. Also 8 rubies, 4 sapphires, and 4 pearls. It is unmarked, but tests 10kt. It weighs a solid 14.2g, and measures 1-3/4” x 1-1/4”. There is a decorative loop just above the eyes which would allow a chain for converting it to a necklace. It shows signs of having been repaired where the center of the pin stem assembly attaches to the brooch, but is in excellent condition, and ...click for details

Here is a pair of pretty little brooches, quite possibly by the same maker. One is of a pretty lady in profile, with her hair up in a bun, the other is of swirling leaves. Each is marked “sterling front,” and their construction is identical except one has a longer pin than the other (I believe most of brooches of this era had quite long pins, and that many of them have been shortened over the years). One measures 7/8” x ¾”, and the other, 7/8” x 5/8”. The leafy one may have had a repair to it’ ...click for details

This fun piece is made from 800 silver, and marked as such. It also has a maker’s mark, in the shape of a seated critter of some kind, a lion or a dog perhaps. The enamel, in lovely intense blue, orange, and green, has a few chips, but they are not very obvious when the pin is being worn, and overall it is in very good condition. I’m not sure whether it was made during Victorian Egyptian revival (1860s-1900 or so) or the second one, which started around 1926, but I’m inclined to think it’s from ...click for details

This lovely piece evokes the designs of Archibald Knox, Murrle, Bennett & Co., and their ilk. Measuring 1-3/4” from the top of the bale to the bottom of the drop, and 7/8” wide, it is a noticeable piece. The gold is rosy, and it’s marked “9” and “375” for 9 karat gold, however it tests higher than that. It is centered by a greenish cabochon, and there’s another of a slightly different color in the drop. There is a maker’s mark which consists of what looks like an “H” and another, illegible, ...click for details

This is a vintage or Victorian costume necklace, composed of pearl-like beads, sapphire-like glass drops, and base metal. Very pretty and wearable. The entire chain measures 15-1/4”, the length of the decorated portion is 5”, and the longest dangle is 2”. The metal is somewhat worn, otherwise in excellent used condition. I think this is Victorian, but it could be younger.
