Here is a really fantastic Art Nouveau ring! It features two gypsy ladies gazing at each other–or into a garnet crystal ball. WOW! The more I look at (and wear) this ring, the more I love it. It is marked 14k, is size 7, and weights 5 grams or .17 ounces. The decoration measures ¾” north to south. But that is all beside the point. This ring is all about the romance and fascination of the Nouveau era: the whiplash lines, the lovely mysterious ladies …. This ring faces up beautifully! When looked ...click for details

Here is a splendid stick pin, depicting a mythological creature of some kind, perhaps a zephyr, or perhaps a very stylized lion. Whatever it is, it is highly sculptural and almost eerie; the diamonds in the eyes sparkle in an intriguing manner. The diamond in the mouth is a cushion cut, an SI or I in clarity and approximately 12 points. Marked 14k, and with something else that might be a maker’s mark. The face measures 7/8 x 11/16”, and the whole thing is 2-1/2" long. It weighs .16oz or 4.3 ...click for details

This pin is unmarked, but clearly old. I have just been assured by a Heintz expert that it is indeed a Heintz pin, and that Heintz rarely signed their jewelry. Bronze with a silver overlay. The bronze is very dark – apparently many Heintz pieces had applied finishes/patinas. 1-3/8" x 3/4". The photos give an accurate idea of the condition. Pre-1930.

Here is an elk tooth mounted in 14k gold (tested but not marked), with the insignia of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks. It features an enameled clock, and below that an elk’s head with an old cut diamond in its forehead. It has tiny red stone eyes, but what the stones are is unclear due to the way they are set. Assume glass. On the back is the inscription “L.F.E.C.” and “1299”. It measures 1-1/4 x 5/8".

Here is a very nice pair of cuff links by the renowned makers Belais Brothers, who were amongst the first to develop a formula for white gold (their patent was for 1917). These double links are each marked "BELAIS 14k W.G. FRONT". Their octagonal faces measure ½”, and they are linked with elegant rigid bars which pivot at both ends. They weigh 0.15oz or 4.2g. These were clearly well loved – the gold has worn through a bit on the backs at the edges, and there is an age patina. Circa 191 ...click for details

This fabulous lion is very fierce! He is looking straight out at you, teeth bared, holding a diamond. All 4 fangs are represented in 3-dimensional detail! His eyes are red stones – too small to tell what they are. The whole head is very dimensional, and beautifully realized. One of the nicest animal lockets I’ve seen. The back is monogrammed with 3 (?) initials – can’t tell what they are. Inside are 2 very charming photos of a woman and a man. I would judge them to be Edwardian, based on their c ...click for details

Here is a romantic ring with a beautiful pink rhodolite garnet of approximately one half carat. The white gold filigree setting shows it off to nice advantage with high quality workmanship. The sides of the shank have pretty little half flowers, and the shank itself is decorated about 2/3rds of the way around. It is hallmarked 14k, and has a makers mark which looks like “CJU”. In excellent condition. Circa 1915 – 1930.

Just lovely! This Art Nouveau aide memoir is in really nice shape, and feels good in the hand. Outside, it is embellished on the front with beautiful irises framed by a Nouveau whiplash design. The back features the same whiplash, and there is space for a monogram, should you wish. It has marks on the front for sterling and 1905, and on the back for Birmingham, sterling, 1905, and 2 marks in cartouches, each of which look like a capital “M”. There is a capital R on the clasp. The inside is lined ...click for details

This sweet little ring (literally – it’s a size 4-1/2) consists of an emerald cut citrine, set between 2 gold flowers. The color of the citrine goes very nicely with the rose/red gold, which is a very coppery color. It’s marked 14k. The gold has a patina appropriate to it’s age – c. 1930-40 – and is generally in very good condition. The citrine measures 3/8” x 5/16”.
