Ruby is the birthstone for July, and symbolizes love, devotion, and immortality. Pearls symbolize purity and harmony. What a great combination for these pretty earrings! They test as 10kt gold, although they are marked 375 for 9 karat gold. The hanging flower basket motif is quite charming! They contain a total of 16 rubies and 18 seed pearls. The total length is 1-7/8”, and together they weight 4.3g. As usual with older earrings, it’s possible that the wires are replacements...

Here is a fascinating ring consisting of strands of rose gold tied in a knot, and studded with gold balls. One ball is missing, which makes it pleasantly asymmetrical (it took us a while to realize that it wasn’t made that way!). The decorated area measures 5/8 x 1/2” and the shank measures 3/16”. The ring has a maker’s mark (“J.M”), the anchor for Birmingham, the date mark for 1903-4, “9”, and “375”, however it tests as 10k. It’s approximately size 7, and weighs 5.2g...

This unusual sterling silver and enamel pendant comes out of the Arts & Crafts movement, spearheaded by John Ruskin and William Morris, et al. The enamel colors are associated with the women’s suffrage movement in the UK: green (Give), white (Women the), and (Vote) violet – or at least, that’s the story! The free-standing wire work (so unusual!) interlaces around the body of the piece, and holds an oval of mother-of-pearl in place. Also unusual is the use of brown enamel...

In honor of Daenerys, Mother of Dragons in the fantastic book and TV series Game of Thrones, here is a delightfully detailed dragon stick pin with a tiny accent diamond in his mouth. It tests as 14k gold, and the dragon measures 5/8 x 1/2" with a total length of 2-1/8". It weighs in at 2.4g. In excellent condition and circa 1900. Display your inner geek on your lapel! The photos are part of the description, so please examine them carefully...

This lovely Art Nouveau lavaliere is unusual with its square lines at the top, making it both charmingly antique and very modern in appearance. It is made of 9 ct gold and is set with small pearls, amethysts [the smaller stones] and a large, central garnet/glass doublet. [Garnet/glass doublets were a common substitution in the Victorian age, when amethyst was one of the most valuable gemstones...

Beautiful, antique, and signed by a famous maker--can it get any better? This lovely turn-of-the-century pendant is centered with a 12 x 30 mm oval citrine surrounded by marcasites, with pale blue enameled bows on the sides and enameled ribbons top and bottom. The dropper is a fresh water pearl. There is very minor enamel damage on left side. The metal is 935 silver [higher silver content than sterling) and the pendant is signed with the dragonfly mark for Mayle & Meyer...

This charming brooch is very wearable. Plique a jour jewels are very hard to come by these days – they are somewhat fragile, rare, and we believe that many of them are now in private collections. This lovely maple leaf pin seems to be missing one leaf. However, the space has been filled with a pretty drop made of green agate, so the loss is hardly noticeable. Along the main vein of each leaf and the stem are paste accent stones, and it is centered by a faux pearl...

Here is a lovely 15kt yellow gold double-cluster ring: a cluster of pearls centered by a ruby, and one of rubies centered by a diamond. Ruby is the birthstone for July. The ring is hallmarked for Birmingham, England and 15 karat gold, there is a date mark for 1877, and also a maker’s mark for “P&E”. It is a size 7-1/2. One of the pearls may be a replacement, and one prong is missing. Someone used tiny amounts of glue (barely noticeable) on the pearls, though, so they are stable...

Each small diamond is ~2.5 points each, for a total estimated diamond weight for the ring of 1.15 ct. This lovely ring is a size 7 1/2, and could be resized.

This fantastic locket is a show stopper! The front has a lovely Egyptian woman or girl in profile, wearing a headdress, from which a few locks of hair have escaped, and hoop earrings. She is nestled within a crescent moon (symbolic of the female principal, intuition, and new beginnings). The back has a monogram, and inside it has both photo rings, but no celluloid. That can easily be fixed with plastic...

This sweet jewel consists of a circle of gold enameled in deep blue, with gold highlights. Through it is tied a 3-looped bow, decorated with tiny seed pearls, as are the bail and drop. There are a few places where the enamel appears to have been applied imperfectly, and a couple very tiny chips, but these very minor flaws are visible only with magnification. It is stamped 15kt gold, but there is a place on the back where it looks as though someone made a repair using rose gold. The pendant measu...

In the style of Murrle, Bennett and Archibald Knox, this lovely brooch features a heart interlaced with a navette shape (this interlace-type motif is also called “entrelac”). It is centered by a pretty oval turquoise, and has a safety chain. Unsigned, and marked 9ct. It measures 1-1/2 x 3/4", and weighs 2.6g. The gold has a nice patina, and it is in excellent antique condition. Circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & in...

This Victorian-style ring is very nicely done. The elaborate gothic prongs set off the large iolite (approx. 2 ct.), and there are 4 small single cut accent diamonds. The setting measures 7/8” north to south, and 3/4” east to west. Approximately size 8-1/2. It is marked 14k, the setting is red gold and the shank is yellow gold, perhaps because it was re-sized at some point. The stones are in excellent condition, and of a modern cut. The photos are part of the description; please examine the...

Here is one of our favorite lavaliers! It is quintessential Art Nouveau: a graceful and elegant shape with a flower and whiplash motif. The central amethyst weighs approximately 1/2 carat, and it is graced by 28 seed pearls. Feng Shui practitioners believe amethysts aid in purification, and give access to a higher plane of energy. Unmarked but tested 14k rose gold, it weighs 3.3g and measures 1” x 1” at the widest points. Chain not included. In very good antique condition, and circa 1900. ...

This gorgeous lavalier sports a light purple amethyst (traditionally good for maintaining clarity of mind), framed by rose gold panels which are both Nouveau and Arts & Crafts. It has a pearl dangle with good luster which is interestingly off-round. Measuring 1-5/8” including the pearl but not the ring, by 7/8”. The amethyst measures 3/8” x 1/4”. It is marked “9ct” but tests as 10k (this is not uncommon). It weighs 2.1g and is in excellent antique condition. The chain is 16” and i...
