We love with necklace! It combines an Art Nouveau central panel set with a freshwater pearl and a sapphire-blue paste stone with an Etruscan-like fringe. Unmarked, it really looks like gold, however it tests as rolled gold or gold fill (we haven’t tested the fringe for fear of obvious damage). The central panel measures 1-1/4” x 1-1/4” including the dangles. In total, there are 11 graduated dangles, the longest being ¾” and the shortest 3/8”...

This elegant and very rare ring weighs in at 11.5 grams. The top (measuring 5/8” x 5/8”) has a lovely Nouveau design, and no monogram – ready for your initials. (Finding a signet ring that is both Art Nouveau AND that has never been monogrammed is really unusual!) The top edges and shanks are beautifully carved with Nouveau swirls which are deeply incised. It is unmarked 14k gold, and size 9-1/4. Circa 1900...

This brooch combines the styles of Art Nouveau and Edwardian jewelry, and is remarkably similar to a couple of pieces by Whiteside & Blank that we’ve seen; however it is unsigned (not unusual for the time). The pin consists of a framework enameled in very pale green, in a formal Edwardian key pattern. In the middle is a sprig of leaves with a pearl berry; the stem twines around the framework in back, in a Nouveau fashion. There are 3 additional pearls set on the frame...

This pretty stickpin features a lovely square-cut tourmaline (said to aid in self confidence and compassion). It is surrounded by a Nouveau framework in gold, with a Tudor or wild rose below. A little white pearl completes it. It is marked 14k, with an illegible maker’s mark. It measures 1/2” x 5/8" and the whole thing is 2-1/2" long. It weighs 2.9g including the gold-filled clutch. In excellent condition and C. 1900...

This sweet lady is made of unmarked but tested 18k yellow gold. Spangled with 8 tiny diamonds (the birthstone for April), and with her hair swept up into a bun with whispy tendrils of hair around her ears, she is just charming! She measures 1” x 1”, and weighs 2.5g. The gold is a little worn at the high points, and we had the jump ring repaired, as it was worn very thin – someone clearly loved it a lot! On the back, it looks as though someone made a groove for testing the gold...

Gentlemen: this terrific lion is just waiting to take his place on your tie or lapel! Made from unmarked but tested 14kt yellow gold, with tiny red stones for eyes, and a (cultured?) pearl in his jaws, he measures 7/16” x 1/2”. The findings are either a low-carat gold or gold filled. The lion himself weighs 1.5g, and the total weight is 4.1g. He probably began life as a stickpin, circa 1900, and is in excellent condition...

This lovely orchid was made from a richly-colored, unmarked but tested, 10kt yellow gold. It has amazing details, an Old European Cut diamond (etw .30 - .35), and a fan pearl. Weighing in at 2.6g, it measures 1” by about 7/8”, is quite dimensional, and SO Art Nouveau! It is unmarked, but we believe it was made in Newark, NJ...

This simple yet elegant ring is made from unmarked 18k yellow gold and a purplish-pink topaz. Topaz is thought to be a healing and energizing stone, to bring forgiveness, and promote truth. Sweet! And the color is just lovely. The ring is a size 8, and could be resized. The topaz is set in a modified buttercup setting, with a single golden leaf curling up to meet the stone on either side, and with delicate detail work in the gold. In excellent condition...

flourishes, some set with seed pearls. It is gold filled, and measures 1-1/8” x 7/8”. Her nose and chin show some wear, and the metal could use brightening up a bit. The pin stem assembly is mounted in a somewhat unusual fashion – please see photos. Circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Here is a lovely lady with lotuses or water lilies in her hair. The lotus, a variety of water lily, has symbolized purity, enlightenment, and resurrection. This lady is remarkably similar to a piece made by the Unger Bros., but marked only STERLING – and the stamp is reversed. We believe her to be a copy, but still made around 1900 – this seemed to have happened fairly frequently back in the day. She has the patina of age, a pin stem assembly which is correct for the turn of the last century...

Here is a truly lovely garland necklace out of the Art Nouveau/Edwardian era. It is pictured in Vivienne Becker’s “Art Nouveau Jewelry” on page 185. She describes it as having “festoons of gold chain in the Edwardian manner, set with peridots, and decorated with shaded satin enamel, c. 1900.” It is unmarked, but tests as 14k gold. It centers an oval peridot, has several small pearls, and an accent diamond; also a dropper ending with another oval peridot. (Peridot is the birthstone for...

This gorgeous brooch depicts a red poppy in full bloom, with leaves and buds. It was made by the well-known and very collectible Bippart Griscomb & Osborn of Newark, New Jersey. Their maker’s mark is on the back, as well as a 14k stamp. Measuring 1” x 1-1/4”, it has the long pin stem often found on antique pieces. It has a pearl mounted at the top, and another dangling below. Poppies have symbolized sleep, peace, and resurrection. They are also worn to commemorate those who have fallen in ...

This sweet pin has a lotus or water lily motif highlighted with a tiny pearl. (The lotus is a symbol of purity and enlightenment, especially to Buddhists.) It is unmarked but tests as 10kt gold. It measures 1-1/8”, and weighs in at 0.04 oz. It would look lovely on a lapel or blouse. Circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! This great pin from England features a large peridot (1 cm x 6 mm or 3/8” x 2/8”), and, on either side, pearl-set golden clover heads. Flanking those are 3 demantoids per side, plus 1 above and 1 below the peridot. Peridots are the birthstone for August. They symbolize spring, youthfulness, and are said to bring health and wealth. Off to either side is a whiplash of pearl-set gold. On the back, “15ct” is carved into the gold. The pin stem assembly is original. The brooch weighs 5.1 g and...

These 10kt yellow gold cuff links sport an ivy motif – one of our favorites! Ivy is symbolic of growth, marriage, and friendship. The decorated ends measure 3/4” x 1/2”, and they weigh 3.2g. Unmarked, they test at 10k, and we believe them to be from the Art Nouveau period. In excellent condition, and really lovely. The photos are part of the description so please examine them carefully. Although this jewel is English, it reflects the aesthetics of fin de siècle Russia, with its pink topazes and demantoid garnets. The fairly large topazes are surrounded by swirls of seed-pearl-set gold, and set off by 4 bright green demantoid garnets, 2 of which are set into the fine chains which connect the top section to the bottom; of the other 2, the top one is a modified pear shape, the other oval. It measures 2” long by 1-1/8” across at the widest point, and weighs 5.4g. In overall ex...
