This sweet stick pin is classic Art Nouveau. It is centered by an amethyst, birthstone for February (coming right up!). Back in the day amethysts were thought to ward off drunkenness, as well as being a cure for headaches (we see a theme here!). There is a seed pearl above and one below, all mounted in a (marked and tested) 14k “whiplash” frame. Measuring 1/2” x 2-1/4" long, it weighs 1.5g. There is an illegible maker’s mark...

This brooch combines the styles of Art Nouveau and Edwardian jewelry, and is remarkably similar to a couple pieces by Whiteside & Blank that we’ve seen; however it is unsigned (not unusual for the time). The pin consists of a framework enameled in very pale green, in a formal Edwardian key pattern. In the middle is a sprig of leaves with a pearl berry; the stem twines around the framework in back, in a Nouveau fashion. There are 3 additional pearls set on the frame...

Here is a very pretty pin or brooch from the Edwardian era. Brought to Europe by the Crusaders from St. John’s Island (Zabargard), peridot is the August birthstone, and is considered to be a stone of healing and protection. This round peridot is framed by an oval of seed pearls, set into a delicate arabesque of gold with still more seed pearls, for a total of 30 (2 are replacements). Stamped 14k on the back, with an illegible maker’s mark, it measures 1-1/2” x 7/16" and weighs 2.0g...

Here is a striking charm, perfect for a bracelet or necklace. This would be a great jewel for a lover of the fantastic HBO series "Game of Thrones." Measuring 15/16” including the bale, by 3/8”, he is holding a nice old mine cut diamond of approximately 5 points in his mouth. Unmarked, in excellent condition, and probably circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included. Lay-away is an option.

Here is one of our favorite lavaliers! It is quintessential Art Nouveau: a graceful and elegant shape with a flower and whiplash motif. The central amethyst weighs approximately 1/2 carat, and it is graced by 28 seed pearls. Feng Shui practitioners believe amethysts aid in purification, and give access to a higher plane of energy. Unmarked but tested 14k rose gold, it weighs 3.3g and measures 1” x 1” at the widest points. Chain not included. In very good antique condition, and circa 1900...

This great pin from England features a large peridot (1 cm x 6 mm or 3/8” x 2/8”), and, on either side, pearl-set golden clover. Flanking those are 3 demantoids per side, plus 1 above and 1 below the peridot. Peridots are the birthstone for August. They symbolize spring, youthfulness, and are said to bring health and wealth. Off to either side is a whiplash of pearl-set gold. On the back, “15ct” is engraved into the gold. The brooch weighs 5.1 g and measures 1-9/16” x 5/8”...

This gorgeous brooch depicts a red poppy in full bloom, with leaves and buds. It was made by the well-known and very collectible Bippart Griscomb & Osborn of Newark, New Jersey. Their maker’s mark is on the back, as well as a 14k stamp. Measuring 1” x 1-1/4”, it has the long pin stem often found on antique pieces. It has a pearl mounted at the top, and another dangling below. Poppies have symbolized sleep, peace, and resurrection...

This lovely Art Nouveau lavaliere is unusual with its square lines at the top, making it both charmingly antique and very modern in appearance. It is made of 9 ct gold and is set with small pearls, amethysts [the smaller stones] and a large, central garnet/glass doublet. [Garnet/glass doublets were a common substitution in the Victorian age, when amethyst was one of the most valuable gemstones...

Marked "9CT" and WHH for William H Haseler, and most likely made to be sold by Liberty & Co, this lovely pin features a leaf motif in red and green enamel, on an "entrelac" or interlaced frame of gold, with 3 colorless paste stones. The gold is yellow, though in places it looks rosy. It measures 1-3/8 x 1/2” and weighs 3.2g...

This beautiful pin is a crossover between the Art Nouveau and Victorian styles. The Victorians loved to use real insects, particularly these green beetles, in jewelry. The Nouveau jewelers loved naturalistic motifs, but generally didn’t use the insect itself – yet the design of the pin is totally Nouveau. Marked 14k, the pale gold setting contrasts nicely with the deep green of the beetle. The pin stem assembly is original. The clasp has a nice safety lever; it is bent a bit but still works ...

Although this jewel is English, it reflects the aesthetics of fin de siècle Russia, with its pink topazes and demantoid garnets. The fairly large topazes are surrounded by swirls of seed-pearl-set gold, and set off by 4 bright green demantoid garnets, 2 of which are set into the fine chains which connect the top section to the bottom; of the other 2, the top one is a modified pear shape, the other oval. It measures 2” long by 1-1/8” across at the widest point, and weighs 5.4g. In overall ex...

This elegant and very rare ring weighs in at 11.5 grams. The top (measuring 5/8” x 5/8”) has a lovely Nouveau design, and no monogram – ready for your initials. (Finding a signet ring that is both Art Nouveau AND that has never been monogrammed is really unusual!) The top edges and shanks are beautifully carved with Nouveau swirls which are deeply incised. It is unmarked 14k gold, and size 9-1/4. Circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully and ask que...

This fantastic locket is a show stopper! The front has a lovely Egyptian woman or girl in profile, wearing a headdress, from which a few locks of hair have escaped, and hoop earrings. She is nestled within a crescent moon (symbolic of the female principal, intuition, and new beginnings). The back has a monogram, and inside it has both photo rings, but no celluloid. That can easily be fixed with plastic. Unusually large, it measures 1-5/8”, and weighs .77 ounce. It is made of gold over silver, ...

Here we have a pretty 9k yellow gold necklace. The design is Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts. It is centered by a dark red garnet, possibly a spessartite. Garnets are the birthstone for January, and were traditionally thought to keep travelers safe. The dangle is set with a blister pearl of a mellow off-white color. There are 3 tiny seed pearls in the main setting. It is hallmarked “9ct”, and the attached chain is marked “375 9k.” The pendant measures 1-5/16" x 7/8", and the total length of th...

Dainty and lovely, this enamel, pearl, and sapphire Art Nouveau stickpin is 14k gold and just plain beautiful. The enamel shades from pink to green, and it is set with seed pearls and a faceted sapphire. The head of the pin is 1/2" and the pin itself 2" in length. Comes with a clutch to protect the end. [No matter how lovely the stickpin, it's bad if you stab yourself!] Circa 1900.

These 10kt yellow gold cuff links sport an ivy motif – one of our favorites! Ivy is symbolic of growth, marriage, and friendship. The decorated ends measure 3/4” x 1/2”, and they weigh 3.2g. Unmarked, they test at 10k, and we believe them to be from the Art Nouveau period. In excellent condition, and really lovely. The photos are part of the description so please examine them carefully.
