Here is a lovely 15k gold ring, made in Birmingham, England. There are 4 purplish garnets across the top, in excellent condition, highlighted by 6 seed pearls. Garnets (January birthstone) are known as the “stones of love and devotion,” and are also thought to bring balance to life. The setting is closed backed, and inside the engraved shank it is fully hallmarked with the anchor for Birmingham, “15” and “625” for 15k gold, and the X for 1872-1873...

Here is a lovely, simple stickpin with a stylized flower design based on a Japanese family crest. It is marked “k20” on the back, and tests as a very strong 20k. The flower head measures 1/2" x 7/8”, and the whole pin is 2-1/2” long. It weighs 2.4g. The pin is a bit bent, not surprisingly given the high gold content (please see photos), otherwise in excellent condition. Circa 1900. Japanese art had a huge influence on the Art Nouveau movement in Europe and America...

Emeralds (birthstone for May) have been thought to preserve love, and bring wisdom. These sweet bright green emerald earrings are unmarked, but the gold tests as 14k. They are 13/16” long, and the buttercup settings measure 1/2” across. The stones measure 5-1/2mm across. I believe the ear wires used to have hooks to slip into, but those are gone and the stubs filed down and smoothed over for comfort. One of the emeralds is chipped in the back, but both stones face up very well...

Here is a lovely 15kt yellow gold double-cluster ring: a cluster of pearls centered by a ruby, and one of rubies centered by a diamond. Ruby is the birthstone for July. The ring is hallmarked for Birmingham, England and 15 karat gold, there is a date mark for 1877, and also a maker’s mark for “P&E”. It is a size 7-1/2. One of the pearls may be a replacement, and one prong is missing. Someone used tiny amounts of glue (barely noticeable) on the pearls, though, so they are stable...

The popularity of all things Italian amounted to mania in the Victorian England of 1860-1880. Especially favored were objects of Etruscan design. This locket is gold fill, decorated with an Etruscan Revival motif punctuated with a pearl. The locket is 1 ½" long and is unmarked.

This is a lovely French lavalier, measuring 1-1/8” (not including the jump ring) by 11/16”. It features 3 rose cut diamonds and 3 (cultured?) pearls. Marked only “DEPOSE”, it tests as 18k. The stones are set in white metal, but it’s hard to tell what kind – most likely either gold or platinum. 2.1g. We believe this used to be part of a larger piece, however, the transformation was done very skillfully, and it is in overall very good condition...

This is a Victorian book chain, 17” long, with two spring rings. Men: use it for your pocket watch, in true Victorian style! Ladies, you can do the same, or use it for a locket or charm or whatever you like! Each link, which looks like a little book – hence the name - has a pattern stamped or carved into it. Some links show some wear consistent with age. It weighs 17.1g and is quite charming! The photos are a part of the description. Please look at them carefully...

This sweet jewel consists of a circle of gold enameled in deep blue, with gold highlights. Through it is tied a 3-looped bow, decorated with tiny seed pearls, as are the bail and drop. There are a few places where the enamel appears to have been applied imperfectly, and a couple very tiny chips, but these very minor flaws are visible only with magnification. It is stamped 15kt gold, but there is a place on the back where it looks as though someone made a repair using rose gold...

This very beautiful ring, with a continuous wheat sheaf pattern (wheat signifies love and charity), most likely comes out of the turn of the last century, according to jewelry historian Christie Romero (RIP). She also said it was probably made using a process called “die rolling.” It is marked “22ct”, “PLATINUM”, and the maker’s mark is “B’s”...

This pair of identical rich yellow gold pins would be an excellent addition to your collection of Victorian jewelry! 1-1/4” x 1/4”, they say “BEBE” on the front. They test as 9k, weigh 3.0 g, and the findings are signed “VID”. There are tiny flowers and floral designs at the edges. It looks like the findings are old replacements. One of them has 2 brownish stains on the back, otherwise in excellent condition. (Also note that the findings are basically safety pins, so if you're intere...

Here is a Victorian pin with the cross, anchor, and heart, the symbols for faith, hope and charity. It has really nice detail work in the metal. Unmarked, but it seems to be made of a layer of gold on top of a layer of copper (we’re sure about the gold). The center of the heart is set with a (faux?) seed pearl, and the cross is set with 11 tiny turquoise-colored cabs – they are too tiny for a definite ID. It measures 1-3/16 x 7/8". The gold shows wear here and there, and it has a nice age pa...

This extremely cool and very collectable brooch depicts 5 turbaned “blackamoors.” Made from (unmarked, tested) 14k rose gold, and black and white enamel, the details are picked out in gold (their eyes, mouths, collars and turbans). There is a partial hallmark on the pin, and old repair to the pin stem assembly (invisible from the front), and some damage to the black enamel, especially the two outer figures’ noses and the chin of the rightmost figure. The pin weighs 6.0g or .21oz, and it me...

This beetle is in very good condition (though the pin is slightly bent), and is set in unmarked but tested 14k rose gold. The beetle itself is 9/16” x 7/16” at the widest point, and is held firmly in place by 4 prongs. The whole thing is 2-3/4” long. The Victorians loved to use organic things in their jewelry, including real beetles. This particular type seems to have been a favorite. They are very collectible! We have been told they are late Victorian, so probably Circa 1880. The photos a...

This pretty and very Victorian brooch consists of a navette-shaped border of rose gold surrounding an oval of yellow gold which highlights a flower and two leaves of rose gold. It tests as 10k, and is signed “A.J.C”. Measuring 1-3/4” x 3/8”, it weighs 3.2g. In overall good condition, but it could use some cleaning up. This pin came out of an important household in Newport, RI as a gift, circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handl...
