Here is a coral garland necklace consisting of 8 coral of graduated lengths and sizes, and a final drop on a draping chain. The three longest drops are on rigid bars. The coral is a lovely deep dark ox-blood red, very hard to capture in photos. drops Coral was believed to prevent bad luck, and to be an aid to meditation. The entire chain length is 15-1/4”, and the decorated portion is 4-1/4” x 2-1/8” at the longest point...

This unusual sterling silver and enamel pendant comes out of the Arts & Crafts movement, spearheaded by John Ruskin and William Morris, et al. The enamel colors are associated with the women’s suffrage movement in the UK: green (Give), white (Women the), and (Vote) violet – or at least, that’s the story! The free-standing wire work (so interesting!) interlaces around the body of the piece, and holds the oval of mother-of-pearl in place. Also unusual is the use of brown enamel...

This pretty ring comes out of the era when Edwardian styles were sliding into Art Deco. It is marked “925” for sterling silver, and set with a pretty ruby, birthstone for July. Rubies have been called “the queen of stones and the stone of kings.” The ring has the mellow patina of age, and is size 6. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included.

Here is a beautiful ring which is unsigned, but very much in the style of Bernard Instone, one of the Arts & Crafts era jewelers. He made frequent use of leaves-as-prongs in his ring settings, and as was the way with the A&C movement, he didn’t use precious stones much, so he could keep prices down. This ring is made from sterling silver and set with a blue-green “Swiss lapis” (dyed quartz) which measures approximately 3/4” x 9/16”...

Here is a lovely pendant, enameled in an intense blue with patches of a much lighter blue. The dropper shades from a pale green through a lighter blue into the intense blue of the main part of the jewel. The back is marked sterling silver, and the dropper is marked silver. It measures 1-3/8 x 1-3/16, and is on a new 18” sterling chain. In very good condition overall...

This striking brooch features flowers – probably poppies – with curved flowing lines, mounted on a mother-of-pearl ova, is so pretty! Poppies have symbolized sleep (hello, Dorothy!), rest, and eternal life. The flower is silver plate, and is worn on the high places (we find that those bits actually serve as highlights). The mother of pearl is convex. It measures 1-3/4” x 1-3/8”. The pin assembly is mounted on a base metal plaque, and is of the old style...

Weird but wonderful, and SO Victorian! Here is a grooming chatelaine from the 1800s. It has a Chinese fish motif at the top, and dangling from that are 3 implements, a tweezers, an ear-cleaning device, and a third implement for cleaning nails. (We just saw a similar chatelaine on eBay that was advertised as a device for opium users, but we don’t think so!) It is unmarked but tests positive for silver, and with a patina consistent with age...

Here is a sky-blue enamel pendant with blue enamel dropper. It tests as silver, most likely Sterling. It has two shades of light blue enamel on the front, highlighted by silver flourishes and dots. The dropper is also enameled in shaded hues of blue. The enamel continues on the back in sky blue – so lovely! Excluding the bale, it is 1-1/2” long by just under 3/4” across...

This necklace is such a pleasure to wear! It drapes very nicely around the neck, measuring 15-1/2” long, with a maximum of ½” in width. It is marked "DANECRAFT STERLING RFG US PAT OFF" and weighs 36.8g. In excellent condition, and we believe it was made between 1940 and 1950. The flowers are lotuses (which are a type of water lily). To Buddists, they represent resurrection, purity and enlightenment. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully...

Here is a brooch with an ancient Celtic design – two birds with enameled wings, bodies and eyes, with interlaced silver above and below. The enamel is in green, blue, white, and red. It is marked 925 for sterling silver, and has several other marks which are illegible. 1-1/2” X 1-1/4”. There are a couple places where the enamel isn’t perfect – please see photos...

This lavalier is enameled in two shades of blue, with a pearl dangle. The front is composed of 3 panels of enamel; the outer ones are in the shape of sweet stylized hearts, in dark blue. The center is a lighter color, and the back is enameled in a lovely sky blue. Overall it is in very good condition, though the enamel on the back shows a small amount of wear on the high points. It measures 2” from the top of the bail to the bottom of the pearl. Unmarked. C. 1900. Comes with a 19-1/2” silver...

This intriguing locket has a saint, probably St. Peter, holding a key (to the church? To heaven?), and with a bird – a dove? - in the background) on one side. On the other is a photograph of an ecclesiastical-looking person. It contains a touched relic (a bit of ribbon which has been touched to a saint’s bone or something worn by a saint), a tiny metal medal with Mary on one side, saying "Mary conceived without sin” and more Christian imagery on the other, and a wisp of cotton. Wouldn’t ...

This lovely navette-shaped pin or brooch from the Arts & Crafts era measures 2-1/4 x 3/8”. It has a leaf and berries design, centered by a blister pearl of an intriguing shape. It is marked STERLING, and the pin-stem assembly is original. We have not cleaned it, so it has a nice patina and a little bit of tarnish. In excellent condition, and circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included.

This charming brooch is very wearable. Plique a jour jewels are very hard to come by these days – they are somewhat fragile, rare, and I believe that many of them are now in private collections. This lovely maple leaf pin seems to be missing one leaf. The space has been filled with a drop made of green agate, so the loss is hardly noticeable. Along the main vein of each leaf and the stem are paste accent stones, and it is centered by a faux pearl. The plique itself is in good shape, with only ...

This delightful portrait in silver, of a wind-swept person in a cloak and hood, is very detailed and just lovely. We think it’s a boy (unusual!), as the hair seems to be quite short under the hood. The hood itself looks like a cap made from a flower, as seen on fairies in Victorian children’s books. It measures 1-1/8” wide, is hollow, and is marked “STERLING TOP GERMAN SILVER BACK”. German silver is a white metal. The back is a bit tarnished, has what looks like little bubbles of meta...

Here is a pretty sterling buckle with a floral motif highlighted with plique a jour (translucent enamel). These buckles with plique are quite unusual. The plique is red, 2 different blues, and green. It is signed with a “JK” above another “JK” in a box. It has marks for London, 1886, and a duty mark. Measuring 3-1/8” x 2-1/4", it weighs 32.7g or 1.16 oz. It’s in quite good condition. The plique has a few hairlines and some bubbles, which is common. The red and blue plique is dark, so...

Joan is one of the patron saints of France, and patron of soldiers. This is an intricate design by Edmond-Henri Becker, well-known French medalist. The front of this piece shows Joan of Arc in profile, also a shield decorated with a sword, a crown, and 2 fleurs-de-lis. Above her head is a banner saying “1429” and “Jehanne d’Arc”. The back shows a banner with a saint (or possibly the Madonna and Child – hard to tell) with two people praying. Also shown are a spear, the pommel of a swo...
