Here is a shield-shaped sorority pin (9/16 x ½”), with 16 tiny seed pearls set around the perimeter, and 3 colored stones. The 2 upper stones are emerald green, the bottom one is sapphire blue. They are too tiny to identify with certainty. The shield is crossed by a band of white enamel bisecting a background of black enamel. On the band are the Greek letters Kappa Phi, and in gold on one side is a candle stick and on the other is a flower...

Here is a lovely young lady, nicely realized in 14k (marked and tested) yellow gold. She is shown in profile against a textured oval background. Her hair curls around at the base of the oval, and her bangs are in slight disarray – sweet! She measures ½” x 3/8”, with an overall length of 2-1/4”. 1.4 g. She could be cleaned up a bit – we leave that to the new owner to decide. Circa 1900 and in excellent condition...

Here is a sweet, simple stickpin with a design based on a Japanese family crest - we believe it's a stylized flower. It is marked “k20” on the back. The flower head measures ½ x 7/8”, and the whole pin is 2-1/2” long. It weighs 2.4g. The pin is a bit bent, not surprisingly given the high gold content (please see photos), otherwise in excellent condition. Circa 1900. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse...

Weird but wonderful, and SO Victorian! Here is a grooming chatelaine from the 1800s. It has a Chinese fish motif at the top, and dangling from that are 3 implements, a tweezers, an ear-cleaning device, and a third implement for cleaning nails. (We just saw a similar chatelaine on eBay that was advertised as a device for opium users.) It tests positive for silver, but is unmarked and with a patina consistent with age. It is lacking a belt hook, but is in excellent antique condition...

This lovely navette-shaped pin from the Arts & Crafts era measures 2-1/8 x 7/16”. It has a leaf and berry design, centered by a pretty deep purple amethyst. (Amethysts are thought to bring calmness and clarity to the mind.) It is marked STERLING, and the pin-stem assembly is original. It has a nice patina. In excellent condition, and circa 1900. Here is a sweet Victorian pin with the cross, anchor, and heart, symbols of faith, hope and charity. It has really nice detail work in the metal. Unmarked, but apparently made with a layer of gold on top of a layer of copper. The center of the heart is set with a (faux?) seed pearl, and the cross is set with 11 tiny turquoise-colored cabs – they are too tiny for a definite ID. It measures 1-3/16 x 7/8"...

This beauty is possibly a mourning piece, with its black enamel flower. It has a tiny central old-cut diamond, and is made from 18k gold. There is a little chipping to the enamel, but it’s still quite lovely. The flower measures 1/2” x ¾” and the whole thing is 2-1/2” long. C 1900. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included.

Here is a lovely pair of white gold-fronted double cuff links – they could have been worn by Gatsby himself! Each end is marked BELAIS 14k W.G. FRONT, and is a rectangle measuring 5/8 x ½”, with rigid connectors, hinged at one end. There is space for a monogram, should you wish it. They weigh a total of 5g. Belais Brothers were amongst the first to develop a formula for white gold (patented in 1917)...

This lovely ring is made from 10kt (marked and tested) yellow gold, with a navette-shaped ruby flanked by two tiny accent diamonds. (Ruby is the birthstone for July, and is a symbol of love, devotion, and immortality.) It also has a maker’s mark, which is either “QJ” or “OJ”. The 2 tiny accent diamonds are set in white metal – it’s not possible to tell if it’s platinum or white gold...

So much symbolism in this pretty jewel! It depicts a crescent moon – symbol of the female principal, intuition and new beginnings; an arrow – symbol of, swiftness (think of Katniss Everdeen), Sagittarius, and sexual attraction (Cupid’s bow); and a 5-pointed star, symbolic of so many things we won’t even start! It is set with 11 turquoises (birthstone for December, believed to be good for healing, focus, etc.) and one seed pearl. It tests as 14k (rose) gold. The head measures 7/8” at t...

Joan is one of the patron saints of France, and patron of soldiers. This is an intricate design by Edmond-Henri Becker, well-known French medalist. The front of this piece shows Joan of Arc in profile, also a shield decorated with a sword, a crown, and 2 fleurs-de-lis. Above her head is a banner saying “1429” and “Jehanne d’Arc”. The back shows a banner with a saint (or possibly the Madonna and Child – hard to tell) with two people praying. Also shown are a spear, the pommel of a swo...

Here is a Victorian ring with pretty scrollwork on the shank. The center decoration is a horizontal row of seed pearls, and two red stones above and below. One stone is badly chipped, and both are abraded. One of them might be a doublet, but otherwise I don’t know what they are. It is stamped 10K, and is approximately a size 8. Circa 1900. This pretty and intriguing brooch consists of a navette-shaped border of rose gold surrounding an oval of yellow gold which highlights a flower and two leaves of rose gold. It tests as 10k, although weakly in some places, and is signed “A.J.C”. Measuring 1-3/4” x 3/8”, it weighs 3.2g. In overall good condition, but it could use some cleaning up. This pin came out of an important household in Newport, RI as a gift, circa 1900. Please read this description and look at the photos very care...

Here is a set composed of cufflinks made from 2 large oval (¾” x ½”) peacock glass cabs set in textured circles of gold-toned metal measuring just under 1” across, and a tie tack made from a smaller cab (3/8” x ¼”), also set in gold-toned metal. The set was probably made in the 1950s or ‘60s, although the peacock glass itself is probably from the early 20th C. Unmarked and in excellent condition. Peacock eye glass is very collectible! Here is a great pair of cuff links by Belais, one of the companies who pioneered the use of white gold, and so very collectible. They are double sided, with decorated separating links, and each “end” measures 9/16” x1/2". They are marked “White Gold Front Belais 14k”, and “Talon Grip Trade Mark”. They weigh 6.1g or .21oz, and the fronts are in very good condition. A bit of reddish metal – copper? – shows through on the backs, from wear which is consistent with age. Circa 1920. ...

This striking brooch features flowers – poppies? – with curved flowing lines, mounted on a mother-of-pearl oval. Poppies have symbolized sleep (hello, Dorothy!), rest, and eternal life. The flower is silver plate, and is worn on the high places (I find that the worn places actually serve as highlights). The mother of pearl is convex. It measures 1-3/4” x 1-3/8”. The pin assembly is mounted on a base metal plaque, and is of the old style. It rattles a little, but is firmly in place. We be...
