This lovely navette-shaped pin from the Arts & Crafts era measures 2-1/8 x 7/16”. It has a leaf and berry design, centered by a pretty deep purple amethyst. (Amethysts are thought to bring calmness and clarity to the mind.) It is marked STERLING, and the pin-stem assembly is original. It has a nice patina. In excellent condition, and circa 1900. Here is a pretty lady’s face in profile. Her long golden hair trails down to end with a tiny baroque or freshwater pearl. Total length of the face, hair and pearl is nearly ¾”. This design was based on a drawing by Charles Dana Gibson – a Gibson Girl! Please see the final photograph. It is hallmarked 14k, weighs 1.2g, and is in excellent condition. It doesn’t have a maker’s mark, but we have seen this exact stick pin with Alling’s mark. Circa 1900...

Here is a shield-shaped sorority pin (9/16 x ½”), with 16 tiny seed pearls set around the perimeter, and 3 colored stones. The 2 upper stones are emerald green, the bottom one is sapphire blue. They are too tiny to identify with certainty. The shield is crossed by a band of white enamel bisecting a background of black enamel. On the band are the Greek letters Kappa Phi, and in gold on one side is a candle stick and on the other is a flower...

Here is a young lady, nicely realized in 14k (marked and tested) yellow gold. She is shown in profile against a textured oval background. Her hair curls around at the base of the oval, and her bangs are in slight disarray – sweet! She measures ½” x 3/8”, with an overall length of 2-1/4”. 1.4 g. She could be cleaned up a bit – we leave that to the new owner to decide. Circa 1900 and in excellent condition...

Weird but wonderful, and SO Victorian! Here is a grooming chatelaine from sometime in the 1800s – very hard to put a more specific age to this. It has a Chinese fish motif at the top, and dangling from that are 3 implements, a tweezers, an ear-cleaning device, and a third implement for cleaning nails. (We just saw a similar chatelaine on eBay that was advertised as a device for opium users.) It tests positive for silver, but is unmarked and with a patina consistent with age...

Here is a sweet, simple stickpin with a design based on a Japanese family crest. It is marked “k20” on the back. The flower head measures ½ x 7/8”, and the whole pin is 2-1/2” long. It weighs 2.4g. The pin is a bit bent, not surprisingly given the high gold content (please see photos), otherwise in excellent condition. Circa 1900. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse...

Joan is one of the patron saints of France, and patron of soldiers. This is an intricate design by Edmond-Henri Becker, well-known French medalist. The front of this piece shows Joan of Arc in profile, also a shield decorated with a sword, a crown, and 2 fleurs-de-lis. Above her head is a banner saying “1429” and “Jehanne d’Arc”. The back shows a banner with a saint (or possibly the Madonna and Child – hard to tell) with two people praying...

This beauty is made from unmarked but tested 18k yellow gold. The flower is enameled in black, and it has a tiny central old-cut diamond. There is a little chipping to the enamel, but it’s still quite lovely. The flower measures 1/2” x ¾” and the whole thing is 2-1/2” long. C 1900. Here is a lovely pair of white gold-fronted double cuff links – they could have been worn by Gatsby himself! Each end is marked BELAIS 14k W.G. FRONT, and is a rectangle measuring 5/8 x ½”, with rigid connectors, hinged at one end. There is space for a monogram, should you wish it...

This lovely ring is made from 10kt (marked and tested) yellow gold, with a navette-shaped ruby flanked by two tiny accent diamonds. (Ruby is the birthstone for July, and is a symbol of love, devotion, and immortality.) It also has a maker’s mark, which is either “QJ” or “OJ”. The 2 tiny accent diamonds are set in white metal – it’s not possible to tell if it’s platinum or white gold. It’s a size six, and very sweet indeed! Please read this description and look at the photos ve...

Here is a Victorian ring with pretty scrollwork on the shank. The center decoration is a horizontal row of seed pearls, and two red stones above and below. One stone is badly chipped, and both are abraded. One of them might be a doublet, but otherwise I don’t know what they are. It is stamped 10K, and is approximately a size 8. Circa 1900. This pretty and intriguing brooch consists of a navette-shaped border of rose gold surrounding an oval of yellow gold which highlights a flower and two leaves of rose gold. It tests as 10k, although weakly in some places, and is signed “A.J.C”. Measuring 1-3/4” x 3/8”, it weighs 3.2g. In overall good condition, but it could use some cleaning up. This pin came out of an important household in Newport, RI as a gift, circa 1900. Please read this description and look at the photos very care...

Here is a stickpin featuring a yummy burnt-orange colored oval carnelian, set in 10kt gold and surrounded by an oval of gold set with 4 seed pearls. It is marked 10kt. The setting measures 13/16” x 1/2", and the whole thing 2-3/8". The pin has a bit of a bend to it toward the top, otherwise in excellent antique condition. Most likely Victorian or Edwardian. Great cuff links by Belais, one of the companies who pioneered in the use of white gold, and so very collectible. They are double sided, with decorated separating links, and each “end” measures 9/16” x1/2". They are marked “White Gold Front Belais 14k”, and “Talon Grip Trade Mark”. They weigh 6.1g or .21oz, and the fronts are in very good condition. A bit of reddish metal – copper? – shows through on the backs, from wear which is consistent with age. Circa 1920. This is a totally sweet pair of little Victorian earrings! The earrings are gold filled, but the wires are 14k, and go through the ear from the back (normal for that time period). The earrings are centered by tiny blue stone cabochons, probably turquoise. The cabs are set within little golden flowers. Measuring 7/8” from the top of the wires to the bottom of the cone-shaped dangles, by 5/16” at the widest point, they weigh .9g. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefu...

This striking brooch features flowers – poppies? – with curved flowing lines, mounted on a mother-of-pearl oval. Poppies have symbolized sleep (hello, Dorothy!), rest, and eternal life. The flower is silver plate, and is worn on the high places (I find that the worn places actually serve as highlights). The mother of pearl is convex. It measures 1-3/4” x 1-3/8”. The pin assembly is mounted on a base metal plaque, and is of the old style. It rattles a little, but is firmly in place. We be...

This sterling silver fancy-link chain from the era of the Titanic (but possibly as late as the Art Deco period – Downton Abbey!), is interesting enough to be worn on its own, or you can could hang a pendant or watch from it. The clasp is stamped “Sterling”. It measures 26”, and the links are ¼” or 4mm wide at the widest point. It weighs 5.6g or 0.19 oz, and is in excellent condition. This very sparkly stunner has 2 big paste stones (7/16”), 2 smaller ones (1/4”), and 8 small accent stones (there should be 9, but one is missing), set in white metal. The whole thing measures 2” x 9/16”. Stamped “Czechoslov” on the back, it is in overall good condition: the stones have a couple chips, and a little abrasion, but the stones are so sparkly it’s hard to spot these. The clasp is bent over a bit, but still works just fine. We believe it’s circa 1920. Please read this...
