Emeralds (birthstone for May) have been thought to preserve love, and bring wisdom. These sweet bright green emerald earrings are unmarked, but the gold tests as 14k. They are 13/16” long, and the buttercup settings measure ½” across. The stones measure 5-1/2mm across. I believe the ear wires used to have hooks to slip into, but those are gone and the stubs filed down and smoothed over for comfort. One of the emeralds is chipped in the back, but both stones face up very well...

Here is a sweet little pin, measuring 7/8” across. It’s very autumnal, with leaves enameled in shades of green, yellow and orange, alternating with leaves set with 3 seed pearls each, and centering another seed pearl. The findings are original, with a neat security clasp. On the clasp is a maker’s mark consisting of an arrow with a circle at the end, probably for Robert Klitz, of New York. No hallmarks, but it tests for 14k gold. Circa 1900...

This sweet necklace would be a perfect Valentine’s Day gift for your wife, sweetheart, daughter, niece ….. Pansies have been equated with thoughtfulness, free thinking, and deep contemplation. Thus Shakespeare’s Ophelia said "There's pansies, that's for thoughts." This little pansy is made from (tested) 10k gold, with a modern-looking 14k bale (which may be a later replacement, making the pansy itself more likely to be an older piece)...

This extremely cool and highly collectable brooch depicts 5 turbaned “blackamoors.” Made from (unmarked, tested) 14k rose gold, and black and white enamel, the details are picked out in gold (their eyes, mouths, collars and turbans). There is a partial hallmark on the pin, and old repair to the pin stem assembly (invisible from the front), and some damage to the black enamel, especially the two outer figures’ noses and the chin of the rightmost figure...

This pretty stick pin is classic Art Nouveau. It is centered by an amethyst, birthstone for February (coming right up!). Back in the day amethysts were thought to ward off drunkenness - great for the upcoming holiday season! There is a seed pearl above and one below, all mounted in a (marked and tested) 14k “whiplash” frame. Measuring ½” x 2-1/4" long, it weighs 1.5g or .05oz. There is an illegible maker’s mark...

Here is a sweet, simple stickpin with a design based on a Japanese family crest - we believe it's a stylized flower. It is marked “k20” on the back. The flower head measures ½ x 7/8”, and the whole pin is 2-1/2” long. It weighs 2.4g. The pin is a bit bent, not surprisingly given the high gold content (please see photos), otherwise in excellent condition. Circa 1900. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse...

Pink coral is said to restore harmony to the heart. Simple, classic, and lovely, this stick pin features an oval of pale pink “angel skin” coral, measuring 9/16” x 3/8”. The whole thing is 2-7/8” long. Unmarked, it tests as 14k gold. The setting has a waving edge, and cut outs to reveal the coral along the sides. It weighs 3.0g or .11oz. The pin is a little bent, otherwise in excellent condition and circa 1910...

Here is a splendid and wonderful locket depicting some sort of critter – we haven’t been able to decide what, exactly. He has a diamond in his mouth, and his eyes are red stones. Measuring 1-1/8”, and marked 10k, he is set up inside for 2 photographs with both celluloid and photo rings. He also sports a maker’s mark for Kroll. In excellent condition and Circa 1900...

Here is a sweet garland or festoon necklace composed of seed pearls set in 10 kt gold, with two pearls built into the draping chains, and a pearl dangle. The whole thing measures 14-5/8” (and we have gold necklace extenders if that’s too short). The decorated section measures 1-1/4” x ¾” including the dangle. It is in excellent condition, but one seed pearl is missing. It’s really hard to tell - we only noticed when examining it under the microscope. Circa 1910 – it would have been ...

This sweet pin has a water lily motif highlighted with a tiny pearl. (Water lilies are symbols of purity and enlightenment.) It is unmarked but tests as 10kt gold. It measures 1-1/8”, and weighs in at 0.04 oz. It would look lovely on a lapel or a delicate blouse. Circa 1900. Here is a pair of highly unusual cuff links! Each has a photograph of an elegant lady in a white high-necked blouse with upswept hair. These were clearly worn a lot, based on the patina, but they still look great. The 10k marks are on the back of the fronts only, not on the “torpedo” ends. The fronts measure 7/8” x 5/8”, the torpedoes ½” x 3/8”. The metal connecting fronts to backs is somewhat bent, but that won’t be visible when they are being worn. One frame is a little bent, an...

Here is a very Victorian pin – 9 karat rose gold (unmarked but tested), wrapped in spirals around a little branch of coral. Parts of the gold have a nice engraved design. The pin stem assembly is original. It measures 1-1/2" x 5/8". It could use a bit of a cleaning, otherwise in very good condition. This elegant lady is made from 14k gold – there is a partial mark, so we tested it. Her face is framed by a stylized shell motif, and she has flowers and a diamond in her upswept hair, as well as another diamond nestled in her décolletage. This watch pin or brooch is of hollow construction, and weighs 4.7g. It measures 1” x 1-1/4”. The pin stem assembly is original. Her face is a little worn in the high places, and the back has darkened in a couple places. Also on the back there is a scra...

The mix of metals makes this sash buckle quite unusual in my experience. The silver plate shows some wear - yellow metal shows through at some of the high points. We believe the gold to be about 9kt, and it’s also a plating of some type. The buckle measures 3 x 2-1/2" and weighs in at 47.5 grams. Unmarked. In overall very good condition, except for the few worn spots already mentioned; the gold might be a little worn in a few places too – it’s difficult to tell because of the texturing. Ci...

This unusual and stunning garland necklace has a rigid cross piece. Above is a chain running through loops over 5 oval amethysts with excellent color, each set into an inverted heart-shaped framework, and separated from the next by a tiny pearl. Set below each amethyst is a seed pearl, and below the framework are 7 draping chains, the central 5 each having a freshwater pearl dangle. At each end of the setting is an additional little round amethyst, for a total of 7. In earlier times, amethysts w...

Here we have a pretty 9k yellow gold pendant. The design is Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts. It is centered by a dark red garnet, possibly a spessartite. Garnets are the birthstone for January, and were thought to bring travelers safely home. The dangle is set with a blister pearl of a mellow off-white color. There are 3 tiny seed pearls in the main setting. It is hallmarked “9ct”, and the attached chain is marked “375 9k.” The pendant measures 1-5/16" x 7/8", and the total length of the chain...
