Here is a shield-shaped sorority pin (9/16 x ½”), with 16 tiny seed pearls set around the perimeter, and 3 colored stones. The 2 upper stones are emerald green, the bottom one is sapphire blue. They are too tiny to identify with certainty. The shield is crossed by a band of white enamel bisecting a background of black enamel. On the band are the Greek letters Kappa Phi, and in gold on one side is a candle stick and on the other is a flower...

This pretty stick pin is classic Art Nouveau. Centered by an amethyst (amethysts have been used to ward off drunkenness!), with a seed pearl above and one below, and in a whiplash frame, it measures ½” x 2-1/4" long and weighs 1.5g or .05oz. It is marked and tested 14k yellow gold, with an illegible maker’s mark. The pin has become curved, but could be straightened out easily, and it has a bit of roughness in one part. Circa 1900...

This delicate little lady was made by Jean-Baptiste-Emile Dropsy, one of the famous French medalists. The design was usually made out of a heavy gold plate, but this one is 18k rosy gold, unmarked but tested. Signed by Dropsy on the front, as is usual with French medals, it measures ½” in diameter (with the jump ring, 7/8”), and weighs 1.5g. It could be worn as a pendant or a very classy charm. In excellent condition, showing a gentle patina, and Circa 1900...

This ring is centered by a lovely piece of navette-shaped lapis lazuli (traditionally a stone of royalty, also signifying truth and inner strength), with specks of pyrite for a bit of sparkle. The stone measures ¾” N to S, and ¼” E to W. The setting is made of 14k yellow gold, formed into graceful curlicues. It is stamped 14k, and also has a maker’s mark, which appears to be “KBN” and also a dot in a circle. The size is between 5-1/4 and 5-1/2, and it weighs 5.5 g or .19 oz...

Right at home on the Titanic, here is a gorgeous pendant/pin with a stylized motif of green to yellow enamel in a floral pattern reminiscent of the French fleur-de-lis. It is centered by a small diamond (approx. 5 points), and has a pearl-set modified starburst accenting the enameled “petals.” 14k rose gold, it measures 1” in diameter at the widest point. The bale folds down neatly when it’s worn as a brooch...

Amethysts are traditionally though to aid in clarity of mind, putting the wearer in touch with their intuitions, and helping to cure headaches – and they are famous for aiding in sobriety! This large amethyst should be a great help, measuring 10mm across. It is set in a framework of leaves that bring to mind the Arts and Crafts era, with another on the bale, and a fringe of tiny seed pearls dangles below. It is marked and tested 14k gold and weighs 1.8g...

This gorgeous brooch depicts a red poppy in full bloom, with leaves and buds. Poppies have symbolized sleep, peace, and resurrection. They are also worn to commemorate those who have fallen in battle. This pin was made by the well-known and very collectible Bippart Griscomb & Osborn of Newark, New Jersey. Their maker’s mark is on the back, as well as a hallmark for 14k. It measures 1” x 1-1/4” and has the long pin stem often found on antique pieces...

So much symbolism in this pretty jewel! It depicts a crescent moon – symbol of the female principal, intuition and new beginnings; an arrow – symbol of Sagittarius, swiftness (think of Katniss Everdeen), and sexual attraction (Cupid’s bow); and a 5-pointed star, symbolic of so many things I don’t even want to start! It is set with 11 turquoises (birthstone for December, believed to be good for healing, focus, etc.) and one seed pearl. It tests as 14k gold...

Here is a lovely pair of white gold-fronted double cuff links. Each end is marked WHITE GOLD FRONT BELAIS 14K; TALON GRIP TRADEMARK, and is octagonal, measuring 5/8 x 7/16”, with rigid connectors, hinged at one end. Belais Brothers were amongst the first to develop a formula for white gold (their patent was for 1917). Many think they were the premier workers in white gold, and their jewels are highly collectible...

This simple yet elegant ring is made from unmarked 18k yellow gold and a purplish-pink topaz. Topaz is thought to be a healing and energizing stone, to bring forgiveness, and promote truth. Sweet! The ring is a size 8, and could be resized. The topaz is set in a modified buttercup setting, with a single leaf curling up to meet the stone on either side and delicate detail work in the gold. The stone is probably a replacement, but if so it was very well done, and the color is just beautiful. In e...

This fantastic locket is a show stopper! The front has a lovely Egyptian lady in profile, wearing a headdress – from which a few locks of hair have escaped – and hoop earrings. She is nestled within a crescent moon (symbolic of the female principal, intuition, and new beginnings). The back has a monogram, and inside it has both photo rings, but no celluloid. That could easily be fixed with plastic. Bigger than usual, it measures 1-5/8”, and weighs .77 ounce. It is made of gold over silver,...

I am in love with this necklace! I hate to sell it, but a girl’s got to earn a living, right? It combines an Art Nouveau central panel set with a freshwater pearl and a sapphire-blue paste stone with an Etruscan-like fringe. Unmarked, it really looks like gold, however it tests as rolled gold or gold fill (I haven’t tested the fringe for fear of damaging it). The central panel measures 1-1/4” x 1-1/4” including the dangles. In total, there are 11 graduated dangles, the longest being ¾...

This gorgeous lavalier sports a light purple amethyst (reputedly good for clarity of mind), framed by rose gold panels which could be seen as Nouveau or Arts & Crafts. You decide. It has a pearl dangle with good luster which is interestingly off-round. Measuring 1-5/8” including the pearl but not the ring, by 7/8”. The amethyst measures 3/8” x ¼”. It is marked “9ct” but tests as 10k. It weighs 2.1g and is in excellent antique condition. The chain is 16” and tests as and is marked...

This wonderful Edwardian/Art Nouveau necklace would have been right at home on the Titanic! Both the size and the pearl and diamond dangle make it remarkable. It measures 1-1/4” at the widest point, and from the top-most diamond to the bottom of the dropper it is 2-1/4”. The dropper is a dogtooth pearl, 11/16” long, which has a collar of gold around it, set with 3 tiny diamonds, and swirls of gold holding 4 more little pearls! Wow! The main section features 3 more tiny diamonds and 50+ see...

Here is a really pretty, easy-to-wear ring that could have been worn by Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby, or any of the stylish ladies of Downton Abbey. A cabochon of green chalcedony (thought by native Americans to promote harmony and good will), reminiscent of high quality jade, is surrounded by red and green enamel on the setting. The shank has Celtic interlace decoration (sometimes called entrelac), also highlighted with red and green enamel. It is just slightly smaller than size 6, and th...
